  • JCP helps customers 'findmore' with enhanced in-store technology

    PLANO, Texas -- JCPenney announced that it has rolled out its findmore smart fixture to over 120 select stores across the country. Additionally, in conjunction with the launch of its Modern Bride concept, the company will begin rolling out a findmore experience using iPad to 50 fine jewelry departments.

  • J.C. Penney expanding in-store digital experience

    Plano, Texas -- J.C. Penney Co. said Monday it is expanding its in-store digital presence by rolling out the Findmore smart fixture to more than 120 stores across the United States.

    The kiosk fixtures feature 42-inch touch screens that link store customers to J.C. Penney’s website. They also provide inventory information and scan bar codes on in-store items to give shoppers additional product information and features,

  • JCPenney disappoints, Dillard’s shines in January

    NEW YORK --Dillard’s was the clear winner in the department store category in January, posting a same-store sales increase of 6%, which edged results from both Macy’s and Saks.

    JCPenney was the big disappointment, as same-store sales dropped an unexpected 1.2%. A survey of analysts by Thomson Reuters produced a consensus estimate of same-store sales up 1.8%.

    The retailer said January sales were impacted by lower levels of clearance inventory as well as by adverse weather conditions.

  • Banana Republic headed to a theater near you

    NEW YORK -- Banana Republic announced that as part of its spring 2011 marketing campaign, "Journey in Style," it will debut its first film trailer in select movie theaters and online. The campaign will also be featured in other media including print and store displays.

    Developed with AR NEW YORK, Banana Republic's advertising agency of record, the campaign will appear in March publications, supplemented by print, outdoor, online and direct mail. The campaign will debut in store windows beginning Feb. 14.

    Atlanta -- RedPrairie Corp., a productivity solutions provider, announced it has finalized the acquisition of Escalate Retail, a provider of all-channel commerce to specialty retailers, direct marketers and big-ticket retailers.

  • HSN names digital commerce head

    ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- HSN announced that Jill Braff has been appointed EVP digital commerce effective Feb. 7. Braff will report directly to Mindy Grossman, CEO of HSN Inc.

    In her new position, Braff will oversee HSN's existing e-commerce, mobile and social media platforms. In addition, she will manage the development and implementation of new multi-platform initiatives. HSN's e-commerce, digital marketing, merchandising and advanced services teams will report to Braff.
