  • Provide Commerce purchase hits FTD profit

    Downers Grove, Ill. – Net income dropped 14.5% at FTD Inc. to $4.7 million in the second quarter of fiscal 2014 from $5.5 million in the same period the prior year. Costs related to FTD’s planned purchase of Provide Commerce were primarily responsible for the decline in net income.

  • Raley's Supermarkets, NRG eVgo deliver Bay Area’s first electric vehicle drivers

    West Sacramento, Calif. -- NRG eVgo and Raley's Supermarkets are introducing the first electric vehicle fast-charging station at a retail location in Northern California that features both industry standard fast chargers: CHAdeMO and SAE Combo.

    Located at Nob Hill supermarket in Mountain View, this Freedom Station is the first to incorporate the new SAE Combo fast charge standard being introduced on many new EVs at a Northern California retail location.

  • Amazon.com introduces mobile POS device

    Seattle – Amazon.com has entered into direct competition with digital payment providers Square and PayPal by releasing Amazon Local Register, a secure card reader and mobile app that allows retailers to accept credit and debit cards from a smartphone or tablet. Users create an account, purchase a $10 card reader, and download a free mobile app.

  • Metro has medium Q3 growth

    Montreal – Canadian grocery retailer Metro Inc. reported medium results for its third quarter fiscal 2014. Net earnings for third quarter 2014 were $144.5 million, an increase of 0.1% from net earnings of $144.4 million for the same quarter of 2013.

  • Macy’s misses on earnings, cuts same-store sales guidance

    New York – Although Macy’s Inc. reported a 4% increase in net income to $292 million in the second quarter of fiscal 2014, from $281 million in the same period a year earlier, the company still missed Wall Street expectations. Leftover merchandise from a sluggish first quarter helped keep Macy’s profit growth down.
