  • Michaels growth outlook underwhelms IPO investors

    New store growth, 13.4% operating margins and totally untapped e-commerce potential failed to impress would-be Michaels investors when the company returned to public ownership Friday, June 27.

  • Schnuck Markets names CIO

    St. Louis -- Schnuck Markets announced that Robert Hardester has been appointed the company's new CIO. Hardester succeeds Mark Zimmerman, who recently announced that he would be leaving the company.

    Hardester most recently served as a VP corporate systems at Express Scripts, where he was responsible for application development. He previously held the position of CIO at Furniture Brands International and at General Electric.

  • Finish Line delivers in first quarter

    The Finish Line is off to a strong start in fiscal 2015, according to chairman and CEO Glenn Lyon, who credited the company’s omnichannel efforts for its first-quarter success.

    The company reported consolidated net sales of $406.5 million, an increase of 15.8% over the prior year period. Comparable store sales increased 5%.

  • Adobe releases new personalization solution

    San Jose, Calif. – Adobe is releasing Adobe Target Premium, a new personalization solution that leverages predictive technology to deliver automated decisioning. Adobe Target Premium is part of the Adobe Marketing Cloud.

  • Annie’s adds former Kimberly-Clark exec to board

    Annie's, a natural and organic food company, has added Robert W. Black, a senior adviser to the Boston Consulting Group and former group president of Kimberly-Clark Corporation, to its board of directors. Black will serve as chairman of the Annie's nominating/corporate governance committee.

  • Survey: Screening uncovers resume lies

    Charlotte, N.C. – More than nine-in-10 (93%) retailers who have conducted background screening of job applicants have discovered lies on resumes. According to the 2014 HireRight Employee Screening Benchmark Report, 71% of retailers said background screening uncovers issues that would not have been otherwise found.

  • Overstock and Jill Rappaport team up to promote pet adoption

    In an effort to find homes for pets through its new pet adoption service, online retailer Overstock.com has launched a new video featuring animal advocate Jill Rappaport.

    Rappaport is a former “Today Show” correspondent, reporting on entertainment for 17 years before turning her attention to animal issues with her segment “Bow to Wow,” which gave shelter dogs a makeover.
