    Hudson's Bay Company has appointed a former Toys”R”Us executive and Target veteran as chief of human resources.

    Dan Caspersen will be responsible for leading the human resources function across the company, and report directly into the office of the chairman, the company said.

  • PacSun reports Q1 loss

    Anaheim, Calif. -- Pacific Sunwear of California Inc. reported a loss of $3.5 million in its fiscal first quarter, missing Street expectations.
     
    The teen clothing retailer had revenue of $166.5 million in the period, also short of expectations. Same-store sales fell 2%.

  • Abercrombie loss widens as sales fall 14%; expects sales to improve

    New Albany, Ohio – Abercrombie & Fitch Co. posted a wider-than-expected loss and drop in revenue for its first quarter. But the teen apparel retailer, which is in the middle of a brand update to improve its controversial image, sounded a positive note, noting that its comparable sales continued to improve in May and that it expects sales to continue to improve in the second half.

    The seminal digital event that occurred in the year 2007 was the introduction of the first iPhone, but there was another noteworthy development that year involving Walmart e-commerce.

    A few months after the iPhone made headlines, Walmart rolled out its buy online, pick up in store service branded as Site to Store and helped give meaning to the word omnichannel. In digital terms, 2007 was eons ago.

  • Petco and Padres score with dog promotion

    Baseball fans and pet owners will have an opportunity to take their best friend with them to the ballpark later this summer when Petco holds its 11 annual “Dog Days of Summer” event and pregame “tail” gate party.

    Petco hosts the event at Petco Park on Wednesday, July 1 for the 12:40 p.m. home game between the San Diego Padres and the Seattle Mariners. After hosting the event for 11 years, Petco has the logistics and unique operational considerations associated with bringing 500 dogs into a Major League Baseball stadium down pat.

  • Domino’s names executives including new marketing head

    Ann Arbor, Mich. - Domino's Pizza has announced several key internal leadership appointments and promotions, including naming Joe Jordan, 41, as VP and chief marketing officer.

    Jordan has been with Domino's since 2011 when he began serving as the VP of marketing innovation. Most recently, Jordan was VP of field marketing where he spearheaded the realignment of interdisciplinary resources to better support franchisees at the local level. Prior to Domino's, he held marketing roles at Accenture, Philips, Unilever and PepsiCo Inc.
