  • IBM: iPad and other mobile devices to help drive strong online spending in November

    Armonk, N.Y. -- Online holiday shopping in November is expected to grow 12% to 15% versus the year-ago period, with mobile devices such as iPads and Android phones helping to drive spending, according to the IBM Coremetrics Benchmark analysis which gathers data directly from the websites of more than 500 leading U.S. retailers. The analysis also predicts that 15% of people in the United States who log onto a retailer’s website during November will do so through a mobile device.

  • Deloitte: Consumers in good spirits about holiday shopping

    NEW YORK — While consumers remain concerned about the economy, it is not enough to damper their holiday shopping spirit. According to a recent Deloitte survey, while two-thirds (67%) of consumers expect the economy to stay the same or weaken next year, nearly 3-out-of-5 people (59%) will put aside economic worries and spend the same or more this holiday season. This is a slight decline from 2010 but an eight percentage point increase from 2009. 

  • Walmart starts holiday shopping early with preview of Black Friday deals

    Bentonville, Ark. -- Wal-Mart Stores said Wednesday it is offering an early previous of its Black Friday deals.

    The retailer will begin previewing special deals on Wednesday, and will hold an early holiday sale beginning Nov. 5.

    The Black Friday preview for specials in electronics, toys and apparel will be available to shoppers who sign up at Walmart.com or the store's Facebook page, according to the company.

  • Jones Lang LaSalle launches mall-based social media programs

    Atlanta -- Jones Lang LaSalle announced Tuesday that it has launched a comprehensive digital media program across its 98 million-sq.-ft. nationwide retail portfolio.

    The firm is rolling out The Scoop customer loyalty program, the My Style social media program and new center-specific mobile apps to deliver up-to-the-minute information on fashion trends, retailer promotions and events.

  • New York & Co. debuts holiday Facebook sweepstakes

    New York City -- New York & Co. said Tuesday it has launched its debut Facebook sweepstakes campaign, which it will promote through multiple social media outlets.

    The promotion, which runs Nov. 1 – Nov. 16, utilizes email, in-store signage, Facebook and Twitter, and awards a sweepstakes winner a trip for two to New York City, as well as provides gift cards to runners up.
     

  • SRS Real Estate names marketing personnel

    Dallas -- SRS Real Estate Partners has announced the hiring of Caroline Hurley as a senior marketing coordinator in the Dallas/Ft. Worth office.

    Hurley will be responsible for executing national marketing strategies at the local level including branding, lead generation initiatives, communications and public relations, digital marketing and providing broker support. 

  • Buca Di Beppo teams with Transaction Wireless for digital gift cards

    San Diego -- Digital gift card solution-provider Transaction Wireless said Tuesday that restaurant chain Buca di Beppo has selected Transaction Wireless to power its digital gift card program.

    The cloud-based digital gifting platform will enable Buca di Beppo, which is owned by Planet Hollywood International, to leverage channels such as email, mobile and Facebook for digital gift card promotions and marketing initiatives.

  • RadioShack campaign garners social media award

    Fort Worth, Texas -- A holiday social media program has earned RadioShack top honors in a national media award event.

    The retailer’s 2010 holiday social media program, supported by imc2 as RadioShack's social media agency, won in its category at the Fifth Annual Forrester Groundswell Awards.
