    San Francisco -- Charlotte Russe Holding said Tuesday it has selected digital shopping solution-provider Fluid Inc. to redesign its e-commerce web and mobile sites. The new solution is intended to increase conversion rates online and drive in-store traffic through mobile and social networking elements.

  • Toys"R"Us opens early Thanksgiving night to welcome Black Friday shoppers

    WAYNE, N.J. — Toys"R"Us has become the latest retailer to join the trend of starting "Black Friday" on Thanksgiving night. The company announced that, for the first time, it will open its doors at 9 p.m. on Nov. 24. On Nov. 24, customers will also find the company's Thanksgiving-weekend circular, whichis filled with more than $12,500 in savings, including doorbusters, Thursday through Saturday discounts and free gift-with-purchase offers, Toys"R'Us said.

  • Kohl’s adds $30 million to holiday ad budget; most spent on digital, social media

    Menomonee Falls, Wis. -- A Friday report in Advertising Age said that Kohl’s Corp. has added $30 million to its fourth quarter marketing spend in order to pad its efforts to garner holiday shopping dollars.

    In 2010, the retailer spent $113 million on measured media in the fourth quarter, according to the report, and will spend about $143 million this year. Annually, Kohl’s spends $340 million.

  • Walmart uses online push to launch three Black Friday events on Thanksgiving

    Bentonville, Ark. -- Wal-Mart Stores said Thursday that it will kick off the holiday season at 10 p.m. on Thanksgiving with three Black Friday sale events.

    Black Friday circulars were released Thursday via Facebook and walmart.com to promote the early savings, which include specials on electronics and toys.

    "Our customers told us they would rather stay up late to shop than get up early, so we're going to hold special events on Thanksgiving and Black Friday," said Duncan Mac Naughton, chief merchandising officer, Walmart U.S.

  • Deloitte holiday survey: Internet ties discounters as top shopping destination

    New York City -- Deloitte’s 26th annual holiday survey of consumer spending intentions and trends, released Thursday, found that nearly half (48%) of consumers say they most likely will shop for gifts online this holiday season – a 13% increase from last year. 

    This makes the Internet the No.1 shopping destination, now tied with discount stores, for the first time since adding the channel to Deloitte’s annual study.

  • GGP launches mobile app upgrade

    Chicago -- Mall owner General Growth Properties said Thursday it has launched an enhanced version of its mobile application.

    The Club app delivers several new upgrades, including push notifications to alert users of their favorite store sales, a Google  map feature, live Facebook feeds, GPS capabilities and more. Android and iPhone users can download the free app through the Android Market or App Store by searching The Club Shopping Mall Guide.
