  • CBRE report finds male shoppers driving online shopping in Europe

    London -- Across Europe, it is men who are driving the charge into Internet shopping, according to a new study by CB Richard Ellis (CBRE). The report, released at the World Retail Congress in Berlin, finds that while women have driven in-store shopping, men shop nearly twice as often online as women (buying once every 2.5 weeks versus once a month).

    Among the key findings:

  • Wal-Mart online chief Eduardo Castro-Wright to retire

    Bentonville, Ark. -- Wal-Mart Stores announced that Eduardo Castro-Wright, 56, vice chairman and CEO of the company’s Global eCommerce and Global Sourcing businesses, will retire on July 1, 2012. The company said it plans name new leadership for these businesses by the end of January, after which Castro-Wright will assist in the transition.

  • A tree grows with Ikea

    CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa. — Ikea announced that on Oct. 1, its U.S. stores will give away free tree seedlings through its partnership with American Forests. Ikea has been partnering with American Forests since 1998, and through their "Plant a Tree" campaign, they have raised $1.9 million dollars to plant 1.9 million trees.

  • Report: Facebook to launch new social commerce button

    New York City -- Facebook will announce that it is adding a “Want” button to its wall during its developers conference later this week, according to techcrunch.com.

    The launch of the new social commerce button will be accompanied by the addition of several other buttons, including “Read,” “Listened” or “Watched”  various pieces of content.
     

  • Aeropostale site goes global

    NEW YORK — Teen retailer Aeropostale announced that it is expanded its reach to international consumers. Through a partnership with FiftyOne Global Ecommerce, consumers in more than 90 countries worldwide can now purchase directly from Aeropostale.com.

     

  • Celebrity home designer creates collection for Anna's Linens

    COSTA MESA, Calif. — Anna’s Linens has partnered with television personality and home designer Domenica Brazzi for a bedding and accessories collection launching simultaneously in all 285 Anna’s Linens stores and online at the end of September.
