  • Alliance Data signs long-term renewal agreement with The RoomPlace

    Dallas< — Alliance Data Systems Corporation  announced it has signed a long-term renewal agreement to continue providing private label credit card services for The RoomPlace.

    Under terms of the agreement, Alliance Data will continue providing The RoomPlace with private label credit card services, including account acquisition and activation; receivables funding; card authorization; private label credit card issuance; statement generation; remittance processing; customer service functions; and marketing services. 

  • Study: In-store technology critical for growth, helping customer relationships

    Palo Alto, Calif. -- Seventy percent of retailers are empowering their employees with technology-enabled touch points to help their businesses to differentiate and evolve, according to a recent RSR Research report cosponsored by HP.

    The study finds that by arming their associates with a range of technologies that provide relevant and timely information -- such as digital signage, self-service kiosks, mobile devices and advanced point-of-sale systems -- retailers can increase productivity and boost multichannel selling opportunities.

  • Walmart and Sam's Club raise nearly $28M for Children's Miracle Network

    SALT LAKE CITY — Walmart and Sam's Club stores, with the help of associate, customer and member donations, between May 1 and June 13 raised more thatn $27.9 million for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.

    During the six-week campaign, Walmart and Sam’s Club customers and members were invited to make a donation of $1, $2 or $5 at the register to the Children's Miracle Network Hospital in their community. Additional in-store fundraisers were held to bolster fundraising efforts.

  • Navarro Discount Pharmacy promotes Ortiz to CEO

    MIAMI — Regional pharmacy chain Navarro Discount Pharmacy, which currently has 29 stores, has named finance executive Juan Ortiz the company's CFO, to the position of CEO.

    Ortiz succeeds CEO Steve Kaczynski, whose expertise in retail merchandising and marketing over the last 18 months has been instrumental in setting a strategic direction for the company and expanding its footprint in South Florida and nationally.

  • Kohl's launches contest to celebrate fall debut of Lopez, Anthony lines

    MENOMONEE FALLS, Wis. — Kohl's announced that it is launching an online contest to celebrate the fall launch of its exclusive Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony Collections.

    Customers are invited to go online and submit a video showcasing why they love Lopez and/or Anthony. Fifteen winners will be selected to win an all-expense paid trip to New York City with their best friend to experience everything that Jennifer and Marc love about their hometown of New York City, the company reported.

  • Walgreens broadens social media presence

    Deerfield, Ill. -- Walgreens said Friday it has surpassed 1 million fans on Facebook, and has also integrated its network of more than 7,700 drug stores through mobile platforms on Facebook Places and Foursquare.

    Walgreens said it has become the chain drugstore retailer with the largest following on Foursquare, while developing a growing presence on other social communities, including Twitter and YouTube.

    Freeport, Maine -- L.L. Bean has launched a mobile commerce website that allows shoppers the ability to search, browse, purchase and read product ratings and reviews from any Internet-enabled mobile phone.

    Key features of L.L. Bean’s new mobile shopping experience include: site search, store finder, L.L. Bean Visa Card coupon lookup, click to call customer service, ratings and reviews, e-mail sign up and complete product descriptions.

  • Office Depot and Citi renew private-label partnership

    Atlanta -- Citi announced Thursday that it has renewed its U.S. private-label credit card partnership with Office Depot.
     
    “The Office Depot Business Credit Card and the Office Depot Personal Credit Card both provide our customers with the increased spending power they need in these economic times,” said George Hill, senior VP store operations, Office Depot.
