    Atlanta -- 400-store French apparel retailer Kiabi has selected Predictix to implement a unified suite of merchandising and supply chain optimization solutions.

    Predictix, which harnesses predictive and prescriptive analytics, and the unlimited computing power of the cloud to bring insights into consumer demand, will allow Kiabi to discover a deeper, richer understanding of what drives consumer demand and reach a new level of customer intimacy.

    San Luis Obispo, Calif. -- Canada’s Home Hardware chain has jumped on the in-store pickup bandwagon, tapping Shopatron to complete an implementation of Canada’s largest dealer-owned hardware, lumber, building materials and furniture cooperative’s in-store pickup platform.

  • Container Store chief Kip Tindell succeeds Saks’ Sadove as chairman of NRF board

    New York -- The National Retail Federation announced that The Container Store chairman and CEO Kip Tindell has been elected chairman of the NRF board of directors and chairman of its executive committee, succeeding Stephen I. Sadove, retired chairman and CEO of Saks, Inc.  

    Tindell was elected at the Board of Directors meeting held Sunday during NRF’s 104th Annual Convention and EXPO, Retail’s BIG Show.

  • Family Dollar reaches out to investors as buyout vote looms

    Matthews, N.C. -- Family Dollar is urging its shareholders to support a buyout offer from rival discounter Dollar Tree with less than two weeks remaining before a vote on the pending deal.  Family Dollar shareholders are scheduled to vote Jan. 22. on whether to accept the Dollar Tree offer.

  • Imports expected to rise as West Coast Port issues drag on

    Washington, D.C. -- Year-over-year import cargo volume at the nation’s major retail container ports is expected to continue to rise during most of the first half of 2015 despite significant congestion still impacting West Coast ports, according to the monthly Global Port Tracker report released by the National Retail Federation and Hackett Associates.

  • Shopatron, Mozu, Brand Labs partner on e-commerce

    San Luis Obispo, Calif. - Shopatron is partnering with Mozu and Brand Labs in an effort to give retailers increased website scalability through SaaS technology, quick site ramp-up and deployment, and a lower cost of ownership. The partnership is designed to allow retailers to launch a responsive e-commerce channel built for enterprise growth, increase their speed to market with higher conversion rates, and fulfill customer orders new options for delivery.

  • FirstData: Holiday spend up 3.2%; Christmas Eve busiest spending day

    New York -- Retail spending growth for the holiday period totaled 3.2%, and Christmas Eve, not Black Friday, was the busiest spending day of the year. Those are just two of the findings in the First Data SpendTrend annual holiday wrap-up.

    The report, which includes only card-based forms of payment, is based on analysis of over 400,000 retail merchant locations across the nation, from Nov. 1, 2014 through Jan. 4, 2015, and had processing activity with First Data for the same period during the previous year.
