  • Lowe's Q4 sales, earnings up

    Mooresville, N.C. -- Lowe's Cos. reported net earnings of $450 million for the fourth quarter ended Jan. 30, a 47.0% increase over the year-ago period. Sales for the quarter increased 7.6% to $12.5 billion, up from $11.7 billion in the year-ago quarter.

  • Tractor Supply opens 1,400th store as part of aggressive expansion

    Brentwood, Texas -- Tractor Supply Company will open its 1,400th store, in Eunice, Louisiana, on Feb. 21. The location is one 110 to 115 new stores the retailer plans to open this year.

    "We are thrilled to be celebrating another milestone in Tractor Supply's growth story, with the opening of our 1,400thstore," said president and CEO Greg Sandfort. "We believe there is still tremendous expansion potential ahead, and we are excited for the opportunity to serve the rural lifestyle in new markets."

  • Ace Hardware pilots same-day delivery

    Oak Brook, Ill. - Ace Hardware Corp. is the latest retailer to explore the potential of same-day delivery. The retailer recently launched a pilot of its Express Delivery program in select stores across the country.
     

  • Orchard Supply Hardware opens three new stores

    San Jose, Calif. -- Orchard Supply Hardware announced it has opened three new stores, including a location in Portland, Oregon, and two in California (Irvine, and Cerritos).

    In addition to the 300 jobs these new stores have created, the retailer plans to hire an additional 1,000 associates as it prepares for the busy spring season, and to support its continuing growth.
     

  • Tractor Supply yields strong Q4; will open 110-115 stores in fiscal 2015

    Brentwood, Tenn. – Tractor Supply Company Inc. announced strong results for the fourth quarter of fiscal 2014, including a 17% year increase in net income. The retailer also said it will open 110 to 115 stores and build a new Southwest distribution center, in Casa Grande, Arizona, in fiscal 2015.

    Tractor Supply’s net income rose to $112.1 million in the fourth, up from $95.9 million in the year ago period, fueled by the leveraging of store operating costs and reduced year-over-year incentive compensation expense.

  • Lowe’s Canada to open 25 new stores

    Toronto – Lowe’s Canada plans to open 25 new stores in Canada during the next three years. This includes three new stores set to open later this year in Lethbridge, Saskatoon and Sault Ste. Marie

  • Lowe’s to hire 30,000 spring associates

    Mooresville, N.C. - Lowe's Companies Inc. plans to hire approximately 30,000 seasonal employees at its stores in the U.S. during spring, which is typically the busiest time of year in the home improvement industry. Seasonal jobs are focused on customer service and include cashiers, lawn and garden employees, loaders, and stockers.

  • Home Hardware selects Shopatron to power in-store pickup

    San Luis Obispo, Calif. -- Canada’s Home Hardware chain has jumped on the in-store pickup bandwagon, tapping Shopatron to complete an implementation of Canada’s largest dealer-owned hardware, lumber, building materials and furniture cooperative’s in-store pickup platform.
