  • Tractor Supply to open 1,300th store; plans 2,100 units

    Brentwood, Tenn. -- Tractor Supply Company is opening its 1,300th store, as the company continues to grow toward its stated opportunity of 2,100 domestic store locations. The 1,300th store, located in Bullhead City, Ariz., will celebrate its grand opening on March 29, 2014.

  • Tractor Supply names former Ulta Beauty and Sears Holdings exec as CIO

    BRENTWOOD, Tenn. -- Tractor Supply Co., the largest rural lifestyle retail store chain in the United States, announced that Robert D. Mills has joined the company as senior VP and CIO, succeeding James Callison, who is retiring. As part of the succession plan, Callison will stay with Tractor Supply until a smooth transition is completed.

  • Lowe’s delivers in Q4 despite severe winter weather

    Severe winter weather was no match for Lowe’s in the fourth quarter. The company reported sales of $11.7 billion, up 5.6% from the same quarter last year, as comps increased 3.9%.

    The company also posted fourth-quarter net earnings of $306 million, up 6.3%.

  • True Value earnings drop on rising sales

    Chicago – True Value Company reported declining earnings in the fourth quarter and fiscal year 2013 even as sales moderately increased compared to the same periods a year earlier. The retailer posted quarterly earnings of $12.5 million, a decrease of 57% from $29.1 million for the same period a year ago.

  • New Sears Appliance & Hardware Store opens in Texas

    Hoffman Estates, Ill. - Sears Hometown and Outlet Stores, Inc. has opened a new Sears Appliance & Hardware Store located in Huntsville, Texas. The store was the fourth Sears Appliance & Hardware Store to open in 2013 and will celebrate its official grand opening Feb. 28-March 1.

    The new 18,000-sq.-ft. store offers in-store services such as blade sharpening, key cutting and screen repair, as well as products typically found in local hardware stores, such as fasteners and electrical and plumbing supplies.

  • Lowe’s to hire 25,000 seasonal employees

    Mooresville, N.C. -- Lowe's plans to hire approximately 25,000 seasonal employees at its stores in the U.S. during spring, its busiest season. Seasonal jobs available are focused on customer support and include cashiers, lawn and garden employees, loaders, and stockers.

  • Lowe’s gears up for its busiest season

    A week after rival Home Depot announced plans to 80,000 seasonal spring employees, Lowe’s announced its plans to hire approximately 25,000 seasonal employees at its U.S. stores for the busy spring season.

    Seasonal jobs available are focused on customer support and include cashiers, lawn and garden employees, loaders and stockers.

  • Lumber Liquidators has solid Q4; will open 30-40 stores

    Toano, Va. – Lumber Liquidators reported impressive results for the fourth quarter and fiscal year 2013. For the quarter, net income increased 50.6% to $20.8 million, from $13.8 million in the fourth quarter of the prior year.

    Net sales increased $47.8 million to $258.4 million in fourth quarter 2013, from $210.7 million in fourth quarter 2012. Same-store sales increased 15.6% for the quarter, driven by an 8.6% increase in the number of customers invoiced and a 7% increase in the average sale.
