  • Lowe’s CEO pay drops 24%

    Mooresville, N.C. – Reduced stock awards and incentives resulted in a roughly 24% pay cut for Robert Niblock, president, chairman and CEO of Lowe’s Companies Inc., in 2014. In an SEC filing, Lowe’s reported that Niblock’s total compensation in 2014 came to $14.3 million, compared to $18.7 million in 2013.
      Niblock’s base salary grew 5% to $1.3 million from $1.2 million. However, Niblock’s stock awards fell to $5.8 million from $9.8 million, and other incentives decreased, as well.
  • Sherwin-Williams boosts profit in Q1

    Cleveland – Increased gross profit resulting from a slowing pace in the cost of goods sold helped boost net income at The Sherwin-Williams Co. during the first quarter of fiscal 2015. Net income totaled $131.4 million, up 14% from $115.46 million the same quarter a year earlier.

    Net sales grew 3% to $2.45 billion from $2.37 billion, due primarily to higher paint sales volume in the retailer’s Paint Stores and Consumer groups.

  • Ace Hardware opens Ace Center for Excellence

    Oak Brook, Ill. - Ace Hardware has launched the Ace Center for Excellence, a new division designed to share the retailer’s strategies and key principles of customer service.

    The center’s goal is to help companies improve upon their customer experience based on Ace’s approach through customized solutions, such as keynotes and workshops.

  • Ace Hardware launches free in-store pickup April 1

    Oak Brook, Ill. - Ace is the place with the helpful in-store pickup of online orders. Ace Hardware is nationally launching its free store pickup program beginning Wednesday, April 1 at participating Ace stores.

    Free store pickup will allow customers to check their neighborhood Ace store's available inventory on Acehardware.com and either go in-store to make their purchase or place their order online and pick it up in-store the same day.

  • Report: Kingfisher to shutter 60 B&Q stores in United Kingdom

    New York -- Europe's largest home improvement retailer, Kingfisher, plans to close about 60 underperforming B&Q stores in Britain amid a 7.5% decrease in annual profit, Reuters reported.

    Currently, B&Q operates some 360 stores.

    In other news, Kevin O'Byrne, CEO for B&Q U.K. and Ireland, will leave the company on May 15, the report said.

  • Lowe’s approves $5 billion stock repurchase program

    New York -- A surging housing market is giving Lowe’s Cos. a feeling optimistic, to the tune of $5 billion.

    The company’s board of directors announced that it has authorized a new repurchase program of $5 billion of the company's common stock. This new repurchase program has no expiration date and adds to the previous program's balance, which was $2.4 billion as of Jan. 30.

  • Lowe's to give makeovers to "10 Bleakest Cities of 2015"

    New York -- Lowe’s is looking to put smile on the face of residents who live in the 10 U.S. cities hardest hit by this past winter by giving the areas a makeover. Lowe's said it will deploy Lowe’s "Heroes," or employee volunteers, to visit the "10 Bleakest Cities of 2015" to complete makeover projects that have been neglected or delayed because of extreme winter conditions. Volunteers will complete projects such as painting, landscaping, creating outdoor rooms and adding curb appeal throughout the spring season.
