    Online retailer ThinkGeek is teaming up with GameStop on a new concept retail store focused entirely on collectibles.

    The first store will open in the Florida Mall in Orlando on Sept. 25.

  • Build-A-Bear builds a new store format in Minnesota

    Build-A-Bear Workshop is embarking on an effort to make its iconic in-store experience more fun than ever for kids of all ages with the opening of a new format at America's largest shopping mall.

    Part of a company-wide brand refresh, the reformatted store, located on the first level in the north wing, officially re-opened its doors this morning after a multi-month renovation. The ribbon-cutting ceremony featured special guests from Parents in Community Action, Inc., a private, nonprofit that operates Head Start and Early Head Start programs in Hennepin County, Minn.

  • Study: Shoppers get smart with mobile

    Scottsdale, Ariz. – Shoppers keep getting smarter about using their mobile devices.

    According to a new study from OneStop Marketing, 83% of mobile users now engage in shopping activities on their phone immediately before, during or after a trip to the store.

    In addition, 45% of online traffic during the 2014 holiday season came from mobile but only 20% of sales came from mobile devices, indicating a substantial opportunity to increase mobile conversion rates.

  • Report: Target – where everybody knows your name?

    Minneapolis – Target Corp. reportedly wants to become a place where consumers can go and everybody knows your name.

    According to USA Today, Target plans to serve liquor in a store slated to open in Chicago in October 2015.

    While a number of Target stores sell packaged alcohol products, this marks the first time Target would also serve liquor for customers to consume inside the store. Target has applied for permits to both sell alcohol for take-home purchase and for in-store consumption for the Chicago store.

  • Target may be getting boozy in Chicago

    As Target moves to reimagine the shopping experience for customers who visit its stores, the retailer has applied for two liquor licenses for a future store in Chicago.

    USA Today reports that the company has applied for packaged goods and consumption on premises licenses.

    The retailer may be trying to follow the lead of Kroger, Duane Reade and other retailers looking to expand their alcoholic offerings, which could pose operational challenges at these stores.
