Chico’s is looking to a veteran of Victoria’s Secret to help the company navigate some troubling times.

The company announced that Cynthia A. Fields has been appointed to its board of directors, effective immediately. Fields was also appointed to the board's merchant committee.

Walmart offered a sneak peek of its new fulfillment center in the Atlanta area on Thursday on the heels of announcing that it would bring grocery pickup to the region this month. Eleven new brands are heeding the call from Amazon.com to join the Amazon Dash Replenishment Service (DRS) program. General Electric, Samsung, August, Gmate, Oster, Obe, Petnet, CleverPet, Sutro, Thync, and Sealed Air are now offering devices enabled with DRS. DRS enables connected devices that measure consumable usage to automatically order physical goods from Amazon when supplies are running low, DRS is the same reordering service that supports the Amazon Dash Button.

eBay is turning to the former chief executive of a major specialty retailer to help provide its board of directors some guidance.

Paul Pressler, who served as president and CEO of Gap Inc. from 2002-2007, has been named to eBay’s board and will serve on the Audit Committee as well as the Corporate Governance and Nominating Committee.

It’s only October, but the holiday forecasts are starting to pour in. At this point out, it looks like it will be a “modest” season, with Deloitte (whose forecast, unlike some others, includes the month of January) predicting a 3.5% to 4% increase in sales over last year.
