  • QVC unveils latest shopping channel

    Home shopping retailer QVC is going to enter consumer homes via a new device.

    QVC is launching an app for Apple TV. Customers will be able to make purchases directly through Apple TV with a click of the remote, as well as search for products. QVC for Apple TV will be available in the U.S. immediately upon the release of the Apple TV, with the U.K. and Germany to follow in the coming weeks.

  • Report: Target tests global digital waters

    Target Corp. may have shuttered its Canadian stores, but that doesn’t mean the discounter is done with global retailing.

    According to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune, Target has expanded a 2014 pilot program that made about 200,000 items available to U.K. customers via eBay to 64 countries. Target is also partnering with international shipping logistics firm Borderfree in a test of a new global e-commerce site, intl.target.com.

  • Venture Commercial closes two leases for specialty DIY retailer

    Venture Commercial has completed two leases on behalf of Northern Tool + Equipment in White Bear Lake, Minnesota, in the White Bear Marketplace, and in Live Oak, Texas, in The Village at Forum Parkway Shopping Center. Clay Mote of Venture Commercial, who is the master broker for Northern Tool + Equipment, made the announcement.

  • Report: Walmart testing drones for online delivery

    Walmart wants to use drones to check warehouse inventory and assist with curbside pickup and delivery services, and has applied for permission from regulators to do so, according to CNBC. “Drones have a lot of potential to further connect our vast network of stores, distribution centers, fulfillment centers and transportation fleet,” company spokesman Dan Toporek told CNBC. “There is a Walmart within five miles of 70% of the U.S.

  • Walgreens’ Q4 profit beats Street; yearly sales top $103 billion

    Fresh on the heels of its announced $17.2 billion acquisition of Rite Aid, Walgreens Boots Alliance reported fourth-quarter net earnings of $26 million Wednesday — compared to a $221 million loss during the same period last year — and finished significantly ahead of analyst expectations. Net sales climbed almost 50% to $28.5 billion during the quarter, which ended August 31.

  • Another social platform becomes a shopping channel

    Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest and YouTube have some new competition as social commerce tools.

    Visual commerce provider Curalate is releasing Curalate Reveal, a new solution enabling consumers to discover and shop products by clicking on images in blogs. Thus retailers can create shopping experiences on their own blogs or blogs of key influencers.

  • Walmart, Michael's vet takes top spot at women's apparel chain

    It's changing of the guard time at Chico's FAS.

    After what it called an extensive search, the retailer named industry veteran Shelley Broader as president and CEO, effective Dec. 1. She succeeds David F. Dyer, who will become vice chair of the Chico's board.

    Broader brings over 25 years of experience to her new position. Most recently, she served as president and CEO of Walmart's EMEA region, responsible for retail operations and business development across Europe, the Middle East, Sub-Sahara Africa and Canada.
