  • Staples Q1 profit drops 39%

    Framingham, Mass. -- Staples Inc. reported a 39% decline in first-quarter profit amid declining sales and store closures. The results came as the chain is waiting for regulatory approval of its proposed takeover of rival Office Depot.

    Staples reported a profit of $59 million, down from $96 million a year earlier.

    Revenue slid 6.9% to $5.3 billion. Online sales grew 3%.

    Same-store fell 5% in the quarter. Store traffic was down 2%, and the average order size fell 3%.

Net loss increased substantially to $36.6 million in the first quarter of fiscal 2015 from $500,000 the same quarter the prior year.

The program allows DirectBuy members to earn My Rewards points by purchasing products from select brands who otherwise would not be able to offer merchandise through DirectBuy because of their minimum resale pricing (MRP) policies.

  • Instacart expands to Miami

    San Francisco – Instacart is taking its talents to South Beach. Consumers in Miami can now use the online delivery service to order from Whole Foods Market, Costco, Winn-Dixie, BJ’S Wholesale Club and Petco stores and have everything delivered by Instacart in as little as one hour.

    Instacart customers do not need a Costco or BJ’s membership to shop from those stores. Miami is the 16th city where Instacart is offering deliveries.

  • Instacart now delivering groceries in Miami

    Online grocery delivery service Instacart has had to add boats to its fleet of vehicles now that the growing company has decided to launch in Miami.

    Customers in Miami can now order from Whole Foods Market, Costco, Winn-Dixie, BJ'S Wholesale Club and Petco stores and have everything delivered by Instacart in as little as one hour. Instacart customers do not need a Costco or BJ's membership to shop from those stores.
