  • QVC, HSN’s Cornerstone looking to open stores in Manhattan

    Two non-traditional retailers are on the hunt for space to set up shop in the Big Apple.   QVC and Cornerstone, a division of HSN, are looking for real estate to open stores in the Herald Square area of Manhattan, the New York Post reported.  
  • Ralph Lauren namesake heads up innovation

    Driving innovation across Ralph Lauren’s channels has become a family affair.   David Lauren, the son of designer Ralph Lauren, was appointed vice chairman and chief innovation officer for the fashion brand.   Lauren’s new role coincides with the company’s “Way Forward” business plan designed to revive sales and reinstate the company’s “hip” reputation, Bloomberg reported.  
  • Report: Amazon considering opening members-only convenience stores

    Watch out, 7-Eleven and other c-store retailers. Amazon is thinking about entering your turf.   Having opened bookstores and with a planned entry into the drive-up grocery store space under construction in Seattle, the Internet giant is now considering opening convenience stores,  reported the Wall Street Journal.   The c-stores, with an internal code name of “Project Como,” would be available only to AmazonFresh subscribers, according to the report.  
  • Ross Stores continues aggressive expansion

    It’s shaping up as a busy fall for Ross Stores.   The retailer is opening 25 Ross Dress for Less ("Ross") stores and nine dd's Discounts stores across 16 different states in September and October.   The new locations round out the company's expansion plans to add approximately 90 locations in 2016.  
  • Google setting up shop in New York City

    In what could be a prelude to a retail strategy, Google is doing up a pop-up in the Big Apple.     The temporary outpost, called "Made by Google,” will open in downtown Manhattan, at 96 Spring Street, on Oct. 20, according to a notice on the search giant's website. It’s the same day that Google’s new smartphones, the Pixel and Pixel XL, go on sale nationwide.    
  • The North Face premiers new concept pop-up

    The North Face is trying on a new store format.   The retailer has opened a pop-up in San Francisco aimed at the city explorer.   The temporary store, in the city’s Jackson Square neighborhood, will focus exclusively on the brand’s premium streetwear merchandise. (A similar space will be featured in the retailer’s new flagship, scheduled to open on Manhattan’s Fifth Avenue in late October.)

    It’s no secret that the world’s biggest online retailer is planning to open a drive-up grocery store in its Seattle hometown — at least it hasn’t been a secret since GeekWire reported the news about two months ago.
