  • Dunkin' Brands veteran to head up marketing at sporting goods giant

    Dick's Sporting Goods has tapped a digital expert as its top marketer.    Dick's on Tuesday named Scott Hudler as senior VP – chief marketing officer, responsible for the company's overall marketing and consumer engagement strategy and implementation. He succeeds Lauren Hobart, who was promoted to president of Dick's in May.

    Amazon’s newest service is looking to give Best Buy a run for its money.   In a move designed to rival Best Buy’s Geek Squad installation and repair team, the online giant is quietly creating its own fleet of gadget experts, according to ReCode.  
  • Nordstrom Rack to open second Milwaukee location

    Nordstrom will be erecting its second off-price Nordstrom Rack store in Milwaukee. The Seattle-based retailer has announced plans for a 26,800-sq.-ft. location at the Bayshore Town Center in the city’s North Shore.   The Nordstrom Rack will be erected on the site of a vacated Sears at the Olshan Properties center, where a Total Wine & More store is also slated to take up some of the space.  
  • Fort Worth mall embarks on a new voyage

    “Ridgmar…has always had a good regional location, and that’s not something to give up on,” Weitzman broker Bob Young told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.     A fixture in the central Texas city since the 1970s, Ridgmar Mall is is replacing shuttered Neiman Marcus and Macy anchors with a SeaQuest Aquarium in an attempt to escape the fate of two other malls that have closed in Tarrant County: North Hills Mall in North Richland Hills and Six Flags Mall in Arlington.  
  • Electronics e-retailer looks to steal some thunder from Amazon

    Hoping to woo electronics shoppers away from Amazon’s Prime Day, Newegg is planning its own shopping extravaganza.   For the third year, the electronics e-retailer will hold its annual "FantasTech" sale. The three-day event, which kicks off on July 11, will feature will offer “deep discounts” on hundreds of products across all tech product categories.   
  • Online giant gives ‘voice shoppers’ first dibs on Prime Day deals

    Days before Prime Day commences, Amazon is upping the ante once again.   Starting Wednesday, July 5, Alexa shoppers will have access to more than 100 exclusive deals on Amazon Echo, Echo Dot, Echo Show, Amazon Tap, Fire TV or compatible Fire tablets. Voice shoppers will also get first dibs on select Prime Day deals on July 10, between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. PST — two hours before the general public, according to Amazon.
