  • Gap Foundation celebrates 35 years

    SAN FRANCISCO — Gap Inc. is celebrating the 35th anniversary of Gap Foundation at a special gathering at the company's San Francisco headquarters on Sept. 13.

    “We’re proud to celebrate 35 years of Gap Inc. employees fulfilling the promise made by Doris and Don Fisher to ‘do more than sell clothes,’” said Bobbi Silten, president of Gap Foundation. “It’s an exciting milestone for everyone involved with the company.”

  • JoS. A. Bank launches tuxedo rental website

    Hampstead, Md. -- JoS. A. Bank Clothiers said Wednesday it has launched Josbankformal.com, a new tuxedo rental website.

    The site will allow couples to register their weddings and access an event dashboard to monitor order status and communicate with a wedding party through emails or text messaging.  

    Event information will flow seamlessly to stores, where associates can access existing events or create new ones, and confirm orders.

    New York -- Hollister has fired three male models it flew in for the grand opening store of its first store in South Korea after the models mocked Asians in photos and on their social media accounts, according to various media reports.

  • The Men’s Wearhouse to open outlet stores

    New York -- The Men’s Wearhouse will make its outlet center debut in the fourth quarter, opening five stores under the Men’s Wearhouse Outlet banner, management said during the company’s recent earnings call with investors. The stores will be located in outlet centers across the United States.

    WESTBORO, Mass. — Charlotte Russe has partnered with MICROS-Retail, a division of MICROS Systems Inc., to develop and build a robust omni-channel solution as part of a revamp of its retail systems.

  • Report: Michael Francis going to Gap

    New York -- Michael Francis, who was ousted as president of J.C. Penney Co. in June, is going to Gap Inc., according to Ad Age.

    Francis will serve as a marketing creative advisor for Gap, and join the chain in the advisory role on Sept. 16, the report said.

  • Old Navy turns customers into models at Fashion Week event

    SAN FRANCISCO — Old Navy is getting in on the Fashion Week fun with a New York City event designed to celebrate fashionable women of all shapes and sizes.

    On Sept. 14, women are invited to "strut their stuff" and model Old Navy's rockstar skinny jeans on the jean-shaped runway at Bryant Park.

    Everyone who struts their stuff on the jean-shaped runway will walk away with a free pair of rockstar jeans. The colored denim line, available in 31 shades, retails for $34.50.
