  • Online menswear retailer expands offline

    An online retailer specializing in men’s custom-tailored suits and menswear, is set to open its third physical location.   Black Label will open a store on July 11 in downtown Chicago this summer, the Chicago Tribune reported. In addition to suits, the store will also shirts, suits, denim, chinos and outerwear.   To date, the retailer has opened a store in Boston, and one in Washington, D.C. It hopes to double its store count next year, the report said.

  • David’s Bridal enters into its first franchise agreement

    David’s Bridal is expanding south of the border.

    The bridal and special occasion retailer is partnering with Diltex, a leading manufacturer and retailer of intimate apparel in Mexico, to open its first franchise location, in Mexico City.

    The store is expected to open by the end of 2016 with additional franchise locations planned to open over the next five years across the country.

  • Ross Stores names Bernie president, not that Bernie

    Leading off price apparel retailer Ross Stores is feeling the “Bern,” and named long time merchant Bernie Brautigan to the role of president of merchandising.

    Brautigan previously served as Ross Stores’ group executive vice president of merchandising since 2014. He will continue to report to Ross CEO Barbara Rentler in his new role and be responsible for the ladies apparel businesses, children's, shoes, and accessories.

  • Tailored Brands alters growth plans with 250 store closings

    The company formerly known as Men’s Wearhouse plans to significantly reduce its physical presence this year by closing 250 stores, including more than 20% of the Jos. A. Bank stores acquired in 2014.

    The major reduction is selling space by the company which changed its name to Tailored Brands earlier this year was announced in conjunction with the release of weak fourth quarter results that were in line with previously released results, which showed Jos. A. Bank stores had 32% decline in same-store sales.
