    First Google became Alphabet and now Men’s Wearhouse is following suit by creating a new holding company structure under the name Tailored Brands that hints at growth aspirations beyond the male demographic.

  • Ascena Retail Group appoints a new SVP

    Ascena Retail Group has a new senior vice president to lead the company through its next phase of growth.

    The company announced that Duane Holloway has been named Senior Vice President and General Counsel, effective immediately. Holloway will serve on the company’s leadership team and report to David Jaffe, President and CEO. He will be responsible for overseeing all legal matters for the Company.

  • Saks expands commitment to downtown Manhattan

    Saks Fifth Avenue has another store to its lineup at Brookfield Place in downtown Manhattan.

    The retailer, a division of Hudson’s Bay Company, said it will open a 16,750-sq.-ft. dedicated men’s store at the center, in spring 2017. As previously announced, Saks will open an 85,000-sq.-ft. full line store at Brookfield Place.

  • Francesca’s to open first Denton, Texas location

    Denton, Texas -- The Weitzman Group announced it’s brokered a deal with Francesca's for 1,200 sq. ft. of retail space in Golden Triangle Mall, located in Denton, Texas. This will be Francesca’s first location in Denton.

    Blake Shipp with the Commercial Retail Division of The Weitzman Group and Paul Burridge with MGHerring Group handled negotiations for the mall. Robert J. Wright with Collett Southwest represented the retailer.

  • Founder of Men’s Wearhouse back in the game with new retail concept

    Men’s Wearhouse founder George Zimmer has returned to the retail arena with a new concept that aims to do for men’s evening wear what Rent the Runway did for fancy dresses.

    Zimmer, the founder and ousted CEO of Men’s Wearhouse, is launching Generation Tux, an online tuxedo and suit rental company. The start-up will rent 17 different styles of house-brand tuxedos, with a flat rate of $95. But customers can also add accessories, including shoes and cuff links, to put together a complete for $150 or less.

    Fremont, Calif. – The Men’s Wearhouse Inc. likes the way its second quarter earnings look — even if its Jos. A. Bank unit continues to struggle.

    Net earnings almost quadrupled to $47.8 million from $12.3 million, beating Wall Street estimates.

    San Francisco — Gap Inc. is the latest retailer to say it will cease the practice of assigning store employees on-call shifts with little advance notice.

    Gap joins other chains such as Abercrombie & Fitch and Victoria’s Secret in pledging to eliminate the practice from its stores.
