  • Cooper Lighting: Call for entries in lighting competition

    Peachtree City, Ga. -- Cooper Lighting has announced a call for entries for its 36th Annual Source Awards national lighting design competition. The competition, which focuses on furthering the understanding, knowledge and function of lighting as a primary element in design, is open to all lighting designers, architects, engineers, professional designers and consultants who use Cooper Lighting fixtures in an interior or exterior design project.

  • Lowe's gives away $2.3M in education grants

    MOORESVILLE, N.C — Through its charitable and educational foundation, Lowe's has awarded more than $2.3 million in Spring 2012 Lowe’s Toolbox for Education grants to 543 schools in 47 states throughout the nation. The grants were given to schools and parent organizations for parent-initiated school-improvement projects benefiting K-12 public education.

    The projects funded during the spring grant period include technology and safety improvements, library renovations, walking trails, greenhouses, outdoor learning environments and more.

  • Home Depot increases share buyback plan and reaffirms outlook

    Atlanta -- The Home Depot on Wednesday expanded its share buyback plan for the year by $500 million and reaffirmed its full-year outlook.

    The retailer said it now expects to buy back $4 billion of its shares and that the increase in its share repurchase plan would not have a material impact to earnings per share for 2012.

  • Sears Holdings names corporate treasurer

    Hoffman Estates, Ill. -- Sears Holdings said that Scott Huckins will join the company as VP and corporate treasurer.

    Huckins comes to Sears Holdings from RSC Holdings where he served as VP and treasurer, responsible for global treasury, credit and investor relations activities.

    MOORESVILLE, N.C. — Lowe's is asking its Facebook fans to vote on their favorite design in the 2012 Lowe’s Designer Challenge and help one of the nation's top lifestyle experts win $50,000 for the charity of their choice. Elaine Griffin, Danny Seo and Marcela Valladolid designed spring vignettes using Lowe’s latest line of outdoor living products for spring and summer entertaining.

    TORONTO — Sears Canada announced that on May 25 it will unveil its new, refreshed store concept in four Ontario locations: Barrie, Belleville, Newmarket and at the Lime Ridge mall in Hamilton. These stores reflect the Company's plans to transform the Sears shopping experience in Canada.

  • Home Depot settles National Guard case

    New York -- The Justice Department and The Home Depot have reached a settlement in a case where the government accused the retailer of unlawfully terminating an employee who was a member of the Army National Guard.
