  • Wet Seal names interim CFO

    FOOTHILL RANCH, Calif.The Wet Seal announced that Thomas R. Hillebrandt will assume the role of interim CFO, effective December 1, 2014, concurrent with the previously announced resignation of Steven H. Benrubi, the company’s current CFO.   Hillebrandt has served as VP and corporate controller at Wet Seal since September 2013.   
  • Foot Locker profits Q3 up 15%

    New York - Foot Locker Inc. reported net income of $120 million in the third quarter of fiscal 2014, a 13% gain from $104 million in the year-ago period.  Higher pretax income aided Foot Locker’s profit growth.   Total sales increased 6.7% to $1.73 million, compared with $1.62 million in the year-ago period. Same-store sales rose 6.9%.  
  • Incoming Gap CEO names new heads of Gap and Banana Republic brands

    New York - Gap Inc.'s incoming CEO, Abe Peck, is wasting no time putting his own stamp on the company, naming new presidents for the Gap and Banana Republic brands. Jeff Kirwan, 48, has been tapped to replace Stephen Sunnucks as global president for  Gap. And Owen, 49, will succeed Jack Calhoun on Jan. 5 as global president for Banana Republic.

    The Children's Place has announced the appointment of Anurup Pruthi as senior vice president and chief financial officer effective Dec. 1.

  • CIT: Middle-market retail execs cautiously optimistic about holidays

      NEW YORK Senior middle-market retail executives are cautiously optimistic about the upcoming holiday season.  Fifty-five percent of executives anticipate their total holiday sales will increase by 6% or more in 2014, as compared to only a third last year, according to an annual study conducted by CIT Group.  
  • New presidents named at Gap and Banana Republic

    Incoming Gap Inc. CEO Art Peck announced key members of his global team in conjunction with the release of mixed third quarter results.

    Peck is scheduled to replace Gap Inc. CEO Glenn Murphy in February and late Thursday he named new global brand presidents for Gap and Banana Republic.

  • Lowe’s Q3 sales, profits beat Street on strong home improvement spending

    Mooresville, N.C. — Lowe’s Companies raised its full-year profit and sales forecast as strong home improvement spending boosted its profits and sales in the third quarter. An improving job market has led to increased homeowner spending on renovation projects, spurring Lowe’s strong performance. In addition, higher pretax earnings helped improve total net earnings.  
  • Hartmann to appear on 'Undercover Boss'

    True Value’s boss went undercover, and the cameras were rolling. True Value Company president and CEO John Hartmann will appear in the season six premiere of "Undercover Boss" airing on Dec. 14 on CBS.
