  • NCR expands platform with POS acquisition

    DULUTH, Ga. — NCR Corporation announced that it will acquire Radiant Systems, a leading provider of multichannel point-of-sale and managed host service solutions to the hospitality and specialty retail  markets, through a cash tender offer of $28 per Radiant Systems share. The equity purchase price of $1.2 billion has been approved by  the boards of directors of each company. NCR and Radiant Systems currently anticipate the transaction will close during the third quarter of 2011, subject to regulatory approval.

  • Qdoba opens California location

    Denver -- Qdoba Mexican Grill announced Friday that it has opened a new location at Janss Marketplace, located in Thousand Oaks, Calif.

    This is the first Qdoba location in Thousand Oaks, and the 12th location in Southern California for the chain.
     

  • Dunkin’ sets IPO price range

    New York City -- Dunkin’ Brands Group is seeking to raise as much as $460.6 million in its initial public offering, 15% more than the company planned in May, Bloomberg reported.

    Dunkin’ Brands is offering 22.3 million shares for $16 to $18 each, the chain said in a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission today. The company may sell an additional 3.33 million shares, given sufficient demand.

    Duluth, Ga. -- NCR Corp. will acquire Radiant Systems, a leading provider of multichannel point-of-sale and managed hosted service solutions to the hospitality and specialty retail markets, through a cash tender offer of $28.00 per Radiant Systems share. The equity purchase price of $1.2 billion has been approved by the boards of directors of each company.

    It is expected the transaction will close during third quarter 2011, subject to regulatory approval.

  • McDonald’s Canada rolls out MasterCard’s PayPass contactless payment technology

    Toronto -- McDonald's Restaurants of Canada Limited and MasterCard Canada have introduced the MasterCard PayPass contactless payment technology at participating restaurant locations throughout the country.

    PayPass point-of-sale payment terminals have been installed at more than 1,400 McDonald's restaurants in Canada, giving patrons the option to tap-and-go when making purchases.

  • Starbucks announces management changes

    Seattle -- Starbucks said Monday that it is dividing responsibilities for its business into three global regions (instead of the current two, U.S. and international) in order to accelerate global growth.

    The company has appointed three of its executives to lead the three regions: Asia; the Americas: and the combination of Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

    Cliff Burrows will expand his current role as president, Starbucks U.S. to president, Americas, with responsibility for the United States, Canada, Mexico and Latin America.

  • Bob Evans Farms to remodel 44 units

    New York City -- Bob Evans Farms will extend its “Farm-Fresh Refresh” renovation project to 44 locations in the Detroit and Toledo, Ohio, areas. The renovations are expected to begin in August 2011 and be finished by this November.

    The new stores will include a bakery, a carry-out area and a redesigned retail area. The updated design features murals in the entryway depicting the heritage of Bob Evans and more modern furnishings, light fixtures and brighter color schemes in the dining room.

  • Tri-Land announces new leases

    Westchester, Ill. -- Tri-Land Properties announced Thursday that Marshalls and Qdoba Mexican Grill have joined the company’s projects in Indiana and Minnesota.

    At Southern Plaza, a 335,000-sq.-ft. Indianapolis shopping center anchored by Kroger and Office Depot, Marshalls has opened a 24,084-sq.-ft. store.

    At Century Plaza, a 300,592-sq.-ft. shopping center located in Merrillville, Ind. anchored by Staples and Old Time Pottery, Qdoba Mexican Grill has opened a 2,700-sq. ft. Mexican fast-casual restaurant.
