  • Five Guys to open mall location in Queens

    Flushing, N.Y. -- Five Guys Burgers and Fries said Monday is has opened a new location at Sky View Center, located in Flushing, N.Y.

    The upscale fast-food chain has opened a 2,000-sq.-ft. location on level B of the 800,000-sq.-ft. regional mall, and is one of 200 new franchises opening in 2011 for the chain.

  • Target strengthens ties with entertainment industry

    The beautiful people were out in force Saturday night in Southern California to party and support the fundraising efforts of the Motion Picture and Television Fund. The organization hosts an annual “Evening Before” event that precedes the Emmy Awards, which were held Sunday night and is modeled after the “Night Before” fundraiser, which precedes the Academy Awards.

  • Starbucks to expand in Latin America

    New York City -- Starbucks Coffee Co. plans to expand in Latin America after concentrating in recent past years more on Asia, founder and CEO Howard Schultz said at a presentation in Madrid, Bloomberg reported.

    The chain as about $2 billion in cash to invest in an “aggressive and opportunistic way,” Schultz said, and is especially interested in Brazil, according to the report.

    Santa Paula, Calif. -- Centro Properties Group US announced a 2,000-sq.-ft. lease has been executed with Panda Express at Santa Paula Shopping Center, located in Santa Paula, Calif.

    Centro Properties Group, based in New York City, is the owner of Santa Paula Shopping Center.
     

  • Colorado artists and retailers team toward the Art of Fashion

    The Promenade Shops at Centerra and the City of Loveland, Colo., are gearing up for a single September evening event that combines local artists, musicians and a one-night-only VIP shopping experience. 

    The Art of Fashion takes over The Promenade Shops at Centerra on Sept. 22 from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., and offers one-night-only shopping discounts, complimentary drinks, hors d’oeuvres, in-store events, door prizes, chair massages, makeovers, demonstrations and more.

  • Chipotle debuts new restaurant concept

    New York City -- Chipotle Mexican Grill has opened a new format, called ShopHouse Southeast Asian Kitchen, in Washington, D.C.’s, DuPont Circle neighborhood.

    The Asian-themed eatery uses the same set-up as the company’s namesake restaurants, with customers able to customize the food offerings.
     

  • Denny’s licenses APT test-and-learn management system

    Washington, D.C. -- Applied Predictive Technologies said Tuesday that family restaurant chain Denny’s Corp. has licensed APT's Test & Learn Management System.  

    Denny’s will use APT’s solution to test strategic and tactical initiatives across its 1,670 restaurants.

  • TCBY expands to two CNL Crosland centers

    Charlotte, N.C. -- CNL Crosland Commercial Real Estate announced the upcoming opening of The Country’s Best Yogurt (TCBY) at two Charlotte N.C. shopping centers – Town Center Plaza (2,100 sq. ft.) and Quail Corners (1,700 sq. ft.).

    The stores will open their doors this winter.

    TCBY has six self-serve stores in the Charlotte area, all owned by Samuel Batt. The Quail Corners’ location represents the first tenant announcement for the under-redevelopment center, which is anchored by Harris Teeter and Rite Aid.
