  • Four new tenants join Rialto mixed-use property

    Orlando, Fla. -- The Wilder Cos. and CNL Commercial Real Estate said Friday that three new retailers and a new eatery will open at Rialto, located in Orlando, Fla.

    Wilder, the developer and owner of RIALTO, said iStudio Salon, The Spectacle Shop, You Nails and Jimmy John's Gourmet Sandwiches will open this spring through early summer.

    Rialto is a 350,000-sq.-ft. mixed-use project that is slated to include more than 75,000 sq. ft. of retail and restaurants, 50,000 sq. ft. of Class A office space and 200 luxury residential units.

  • The Cheesecake Factory, Forever 21 to open at Mall at Short Hills

    Short Hills, N.J. -- Bloomfield Hills, Mich.-based Taubman Co. announced that The Cheesecake Factory and Forever 21 will open at the company’s Mall at Short Hills, located in Short Hills, N.J.
     
    Cheesecake Factory is slated to open a full-service restaurant, bakery and bar this summer. Forever 21 will open a 40,000+-sq.-ft. store in late 2011.

    The Mall at Short Hills features 160 specialty stores and restaurants along with anchors Bloomingdale's, Macy's, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom and Saks Fifth Avenue.

  • Report: Restaurant industry sales trend positive in 2011

    Washington, D.C. -- A report released Tuesday by the National Restaurant Association said that restaurant industry sales are expected to reach a record $604 billion and post positive growth in 2011 after a three-year period of negative real sales growth.

    The Association’s 2011  Restaurant Industry Forecast projects an industry sales increase of 3.6% over 2010 sales, which equals 1.1% in real (inflation-adjusted) terms.

  • Ulta and more to open at Merchant’s Walk

    Atlanta -- Columbia, S.C.-based Edens & Avant announced that Ulta, along with additional retailers and restaurants, will open at its Merchant’s Walk open-air center in the East Cobb area of Atlanta.

  • Sonic taps Planalytics for weather insights

    Berwyn, Pa. -- Planalytics announced that Sonic Corp. has subscribed to its Business Weather Intelligence Platform. Sonic is utilizing Planalytics' Consumer InsightsSM service to analyze, quantify and manage the weather's impact on restaurant traffic and demand for certain products such as fountain drinks, frozen treats and entrees.

    "Planalytics will help us better understand the impact of weather in each of our key markets," stated Barbra Castleberry, manager of marketing analysis for Sonic, which has more than 3,500 locations nationwide.

  • Red Lobster to remodel nearly 700 locations to updated design

    Orlando, Fla. -- Red Lobster announced a plan to remodel all of its nearly 700 restaurants across the United States and Canada to a design inspired by the seafaring village of Bar Harbor, Maine. Thirty-three percent of the chain’s restaurants will be remodeled by June 2011, with the goal of all Red Lobster restaurants receiving a remodel by 2014. 

  • La Palmera launches smart phone app

    Corpus Christi, Texas -- La Palmera shopping center, located in Corpus Christi, Texas, said it has launched a new smart phone application designed for all smart phone platforms, including Android, Blackberry and iPhone.

    The new app, in development since September 2010, officially launched with a La Palmera Facebook posting to its 6,600 fans.

  • Wingstop to open 20 stores in Baltimore-Washington area

    Richardson, Texas -- Wingstop is expanding throughout the Baltimore-Washington corridor. The company, which has experienced more than seven years of same store sales increases, recently signed a development agreement to open 20 stores in the area over the next several years.

    Business partners Rahim Kurji and Bidjaan Kassam have signed a 20-store development agreement and expect to open four locations in Baltimore and Washington, D.C., this year.
