Target opens new store in Chicago’s Wilson Yard

7/20/2010

Minneapolis Target Corp. said Tuesday it has opened a new store in the Wilson Yard community of Chicago.

The new 200,000-sq.-ft. store, which creates 300 jobs, will celebrate its grand opening on July 25 and features fresh produce, meat and bakery goods along with a Starbucks, Target Cafe, Target Pharmacy, Target Optical and Pizza Hut Express.

It also features a green roof and the nation’s largest spangle board -- a 16-ft. by 250-ft. billboard display with 200,000 tiny bullseye medallions that shimmer in the breeze from the passing El trains.

Target currently operates 1,740 stores in 49 states.
