  • Winick leases up Gantry Park Landing in Long Island City

    New YorkWinick Realty Group has completed leasing the 12,919 sq. ft. of retail space at Gantry Park Landing, a new, 199-unit luxury rental building in Long Island City.

    Winick represented The Lightstone Group, the building’s owner, in three lease transactions.

  • Starbucks plans 1,500 new stores, expanded offerings

    Seattle – Starbucks Coffee Corp. plans to open 1,500 new stores worldwide during 2014, including 600 in North America. Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz said that Starbucks is under-stored in many markets, including North America, during a conference call discussing the company’s second quarter financial results.

  • Supervalu’s Sales joins Toys “R” Us board

    Former Supervalu and Canadian Tire executive Wayne Sales was named to the board of directors at Toys “R” Us to fill a position vacated by Michael Calbert.

    Calbert had served on the Toys “R” Us board since 2005 and the company noted his departure did not involve any disagreement. Calbert also serves on the board of Dollar General and earlier this year resigned from KKR & Co.

  • Starbucks perks up in Q2

    Seattle – Starbucks Coffee Company reported generally strong performance in the second quarter of fiscal 2014, compared to the same period a year earlier. Earnings per share rose 10% to $0.56, from $0.51.

    Consolidated net revenues grew 9% to $3.87 billion from $3.55 billion, while consolidated same-store sales increased 6%.

    The retailer cited its Teavana business, partnership with Oprah Winfrey, and new payment and loyalty technology as all contributing to overall fiscal growth.

  • Dunkin' Brands posts tough Q1; on track for 800 openings worldwide in 2014

    Canton, Mass. -- Dunkin’ Brands Group, parent to Dunkin' Donuts and Baskin-Robbins, said its banners were impacted by tough weather in the first quarter, with U.S. comparable store sales growth of just 1.2%. Net income for the quarter dipped 3.5% from $23.8 million to $23 million. Revenue rose 6.2%.

  • Starbucks files permits for La Boulange store in Los Angeles

    Seattle – Starbucks Corp. has filed building permits to open a La Boulange bakery location in Los Angeles. The permits do not specify a time when Starbucks plans to open the new store.

    Starbucks purchased the La Boulange chain in 2012 and currently sells La Boulange-branded baked goods in U.S. Starbucks outlets. However, while there are 22 La Boulange stores in San Francisco, this would be the first location outside that market. Starbucks has previously said it wants to expand La Boulange nationally.

     

  • Hurricane Grill & Wings to add 22 units in 2014-2015

    West Palm Beach, Fla. -- Wing chain Hurricane Grill & Wings has signed five multi-unit development agreements, representing 22 new locations slated to open in 2014-2015.

    The Florida-based franchised brand opened two locations in early 2014, with plans for a total of 14 new units by the end of this year.

  • Dunkin’ Donuts to develop 20 new California stores

    Canton, Mass. – Dunkin’ Donuts has signed multi-unit store development agreements with two new franchise groups to develop 20 new restaurants in South Orange County and the San Fernando Valley area of California during the next several years. The two franchise groups and their development plans include:
