  • Floor & Décor to anchor proposed New Jersey center

    Floor & Décor has signed a lease for a 74,200-sq.ft. superstore at the planned Richmond Plaza in Woodbridge, New Jersey. The site is located within the super-regional trade area commanded by General Growth Properties’ Woodbridge Mall.  
  • GameTime signs at One Daytona

    International Speedway Corporation has announced the signing of GameTime to a lease for a 35,000-sq.-ft. at One Daytona, a mixed-use project rising up across from its historic Daytona International Speedway.   Aside from bowling alleys and arcade games, GameTime locations feature full-service bars and a menu of standard bar fare like pizza, burgers, and sandwiches. This will be the Florida-based chain’s fifth location in its home state.  
  • Fast-food giant on tech hiring binge

    Subway continues to expand its online capabilities.   The chain is hiring 150 people to fill technology, marketing and operations roles for its digital division, according to a report by CIO.com.   
  • The rise of fresh-casual

    Restaurant retail is in the midst of a revolution.    According to the Urban Land Institute, one of the key factors driving traffic at retail is the rise of new food concepts, which account for nearly 50% of shopping center growth nationally. The first volleys of this revolution were fired by a spate of new fast-casual concepts, but as the movement gains momentum, it is evolving from fast-casual to fresh-casual.   
  • New menu at Dallas-area center

    Among cities with more than 250,000 residents, Plano, Texas, has the highest median income in the land at $104,000. It’s also one of the nation’s fastest-growing cities, so Eden’s Preston Towne Crossing and Berkeley Square in Plano have expanded and upgraded their food and beverage options in kind.   Recently opened at Preston Towne Crossing are SusieCakes Bakery, a specialist in old-fashioned sweets, cookies, and cakes, and Vom Fass, a purveyor of cask-aged vinegars, oils, wines, and spirits.  
  • Leasing firm: 2016 volume has been hot

    Levin Management president Matthew Harding says 2016 has been an especially active year for new retail leases. Over the past nine months, he reports his company handled leasing activity for more than 500,000 sq. ft. — over 400,000 sq. ft. of that in retail.   
  • Fast-food giant to debut table service

    Changes are afoot at McDonald's.   The company is launching self-service ordering kiosk ordering with table service, the New York Times reported.    
  • Domino’s drone delivery takes off

    Domino’s is replacing delivery men with drones in select locations as it kicks off the world’s first drone pizza delivery service.   Starting Wednesday, Nov. 16, Domino's Pizza Enterprises and Flirtey, a drone delivery service, are launching their first-ever drone-based “store-to-door” deliveries in a test among select customers in New Zealand. The two companies plan to scale up these pizza-by-drone deliveries in the near future, a company statement said.
