Black Friday is coming early to JCPenney.

JCPenney is not wasting any time after Halloween to begin its holiday promotions, and is giving store employees a Turkey Day break.

On Tuesday, Nov. 1, the department store retailer will provide early access to shop thousands of Black Friday deals for one day only online. JCPenney’s full Black Friday ad will launch online the same day and be available all month long. The retailer will release select Black Friday deals online and in-store each week in November.

For the third consecutive year, JCPenney is closed on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 24. The JCPenney.com e-commerce site will remain open. On Black Friday, Nov. 25, stores will open at 5 a.m. with Black Friday deals. JCPenney will also give out special in-store coupons at the door for the first shoppers in line, that can be combined with already reduced Black Friday prices. Stores will offer extended hours throughout the holiday season.

In addition, from Nov. 8, 2022 through Jan. 2, 2023, customers across the country can enter for a chance to win $500 in the “We Got Your Cart Sweepstakes.” Shoppers who upload their receipt online at WeGotYourCart.com will be entered for a chance to win a voucher worth up to $500 in drawings throughout the season.

Comedian and former “Saturday Night Live” cast member Melissa Villaseñor is returning to appear in JCPenney advertising as the character “Penny James,” with special singing guests “The Shopettes,” in Black Friday ads. Villaseñor first appeared as Penny James in April 2022.

In other seasonal promotions, JCPenney is hosting the “JCP Live Holiday Spectacular” on Dec. 1, a livestream event on the Facebook Live platform hosted by pop singing group the Backstreet Boys. Customers can also purchase their new album online, get holiday questions answered, receive exclusive offers and giveaways, support a charity partner, and sing along with the Backstreet Boys throughout the show.

JCPenney also previously announced it will hire 21,000 seasonal associates during its national hiring event through Saturday, Oct. 15. All hourly associates will receive additional premium pay during peak holiday weekends and Black Friday.

“JCPenney is here to make our customers’ lives easier and better with our strongest values ever,” said John Aylward, chief marketing officer, JCPenney. “Whether you prefer shopping online or in-store, we’ve got your holiday. We’re bringing back many of the deals families love at pre-inflation prices.”

“The holidays are a time for magical surprises and fun shopping experiences,” said Marc Rosen, CEO, JCPenney. “We wanted to clear the carts of customers to show our support for America’s hardworking families and make the season even merrier for more people.”

Retailers start Black Friday early
A number of other retailers are also starting Black Friday early this year. Target, Walmart
Best Buy, and Kohl’s are all offering early Black Friday promotions. And Amazon just finished running a holiday version of Prime Day in October.

JCPenney has more than 650 stores and 50,000 employees.
