Family Dollar will deliver its mobile "Smart Coupons" via the Ibotta Performance Network.

In fall 2023, the discounter updated the user interface and navigation of its mobile app. Updates included a redesigned mobile wallet to help shoppers manage coupons, provide access to weekly ads, and perform intelligent product search.

Now, Family Dollar has joined the Ibotta Performance Network (IPN), a digital network that enables promotions to be delivered in a coordinated fashion across retailer platforms, third-party publisher sites, and Ibotta’s direct-to-consumer properties.

Through this collaboration, Family Dollar aims to advance digital engagement and customer experience to drive more value and loyalty among its shoppers.

As a result of joining the IPN platform, Family Dollar expects its customers will benefit from having access to more national coupon offers across more categories. Ibotta will support the distribution of digital Smart Coupons through the Family Dollar website and mobile app, beginning in early spring 2024.

Family Dollar is also opening its app for CPG brands to use to promote products to its customers through the retailer’s Chesapeake Media Group retail media network. Chesapeake Media Group offers CPG brands dynamic ad placements, targeted content, sponsored searches, and product recommendations; as well as full-funnel solutions and closed-loop reporting.

Future development phases the retailer is planning to release for the app include in-app e-commerce and personalization capabilities. Digital consultancy Publicis Sapient leads the Family Dollar app development program.

"Helping our customers do more and save more is core to who we are, and now we can help even more with the IPN improved customer experience," said Emily Turner, chief marketing officer, Family Dollar. "With this new platform, our customers should be able to get to even more offers from the brands they know and love, elevating their shopping and savings experience with our Smart Coupons program."

"Family Dollar is a terrific addition to our growing Ibotta Performance Network, which helps retailers provide value for their shoppers with thousands of dollars in daily savings," said Ibotta founder and CEO Bryan Leach. "Partnering with Family Dollar helps advance our mission to make every purchase rewarding, especially as customers keep looking to dollar stores to get more for their money."

Family Dollar parent company Dollar Tree, a Fortune 200 company, operated 16,622 stores across 48 states and five Canadian provinces as of October 28, 2023. Stores operate under the brands of Dollar Tree, Family Dollar, and Dollar Tree Canada.
