Family Dollar revamps consumer app

Family Dollar is updating the user interface and navigation of its mobile app.

The new Family Dollar app features an upgraded mobile shopping and saving experience. A redesigned mobile wallet will help shoppers manage coupons, and the app will also provide access to weekly ads. In addition, the app offers a new intelligent product search capability.

Family Dollar is also opening the app for CPG brands to use to promote products to its customers through the retailer’s Chesapeake Media Group retail media network. Chesapeake Media Group offers CPG brands dynamic ad placements, targeted content, sponsored searches, and product recommendations; as well as full-funnel solutions and closed-loop reporting.

Future development phases the retailer is planning to release for the app in early 2024 include in-app e-commerce, personalization capabilities, and a modernized rewards experience. Parent company Dollar Tree also plans to release a revamped version of the Dollar Tree app in early 2024.

Digital consultancy Publicis Sapient led the Family Dollar app development program.

Headquartered in Chesapeake, Va., Dollar Tree operated 16,476 stores across 48 states and five Canadian provinces as of July 29, 2023. Stores operate under the brands of Dollar Tree, Family Dollar, and Dollar Tree Canada.
