Domino’s franchisees AI-enable delivery vehicles for safety, efficiency
Five independent franchisees of Domino’s Pizza have equipped more than 1,000 delivery vehicles with a safety and performance AI solution.
Rollout of the Netradyne artificial intelligence-based fleet safety, fuel and performance platform began with RPM Pizza, one of the largest U.S. Domino's franchisees. Netradyne worked directly with RPM Pizza to develop FlexMount, a suction cup mounting option for its Driver-i D-215 dual-facing camera system.
Designed for fleets that use personal or non-owned vehicles, FlexMount is designed to let drivers quickly install and remove Driver-i without tools or permanent vehicle modification. Leveraging the cameras, Netradyne analyzes 100% of drive time and provides drivers with real-time feedback when needed.
The platform's recognition-based “GreenZone Score” rewards safe driving, while full video context is intended to help managers resolve questions faster. RPM Pizza has since deployed more than 600 Driver-i D-215 dual-facing camera systems across 51 stores.
Beyond driver safety, the Domino’s franchisee utilizes the full Netradyne Fleet Management suite, including fleet tracking, fuel management and preventative maintenance, in an effort to drive day-to-day operational efficiency across its network.
RPM Pizza set a goal of reducing delivery-related auto crashes 50% year over year in its first year of rolling out Netradyne AI technology, representing more than $2 million in annual loss exposure.
In the first quarter following implementation, RPM Pizza achieved a 66% reduction in at-fault crashes, and its fleet's GreenZone Score reached 973 out of 1,000, above its internal goal of 850. In addition, risky driving behaviors dropped with driver distraction falling 24% week over week, severe speeding violations going to 0% and severe stop sign violations declining 22% week over week while average following distance improved to 4.1 seconds.
Other efforts Domino’s has made to improve delivery efficiency and safety include providing GPS delivery tracking of drivers to customers, as well as piloting e-bikes and automated vehicles.

“One team member described the Netradyne camera as having a ‘guardian angel in the car,’ helping drivers get home safely to their kids, while also providing critical video evidence that protects our people, supports law enforcement, and keeps the public safe,” said Ted Mueller, senior director of risk Management and legal at RPM Pizza.
Since RPM Pizza deployed the Netradyne platform, four other Domino's franchise operators have also launched the solution, with additional franchises actively in discussions. Netradyne also maintains a formal partnership with the Domino's Franchise Association (DFA), giving DFA members access to preferred pricing.
"These operators chose Netradyne because they needed a platform that builds trust with their drivers,” said Avneesh Agrawal, CEO of Netradyne. “The safety and operational efficiency results speak for themselves."
Based in Ann Arbor, Mich., Domino’s is the world's largest pizza retailer operates more than 21,300 corporate and franchised stores in over 90 markets.
