    LAKELAND, Fla. — Publix Super Markets announced that it has entered into a contract to sell Crispers, the fresh salads, soups and sandwiches restaurant company it purchased in February 2007, to Healthy Food Concepts, LLC, an affiliate of a Florida-based investment group.

  • Mall of America owner to complete troubled Xanadu Project

    New York City -- Triple Five Worldwide Development Co. LLC, owner of the Mall of America in Minnesota, reached a deal with lenders and New Jersey Governor Chris Christie to complete and expand the stalled Meadowlands Xanadu entertainment complex in East Rutherford, N.J., Bloomberg reported.

  • Kroger joins Diabetes Prevention and Control Alliance

    CINCINNATI — Kroger is the latest retailer to join the Diabetes Prevention and Control Alliance as a partner.

    The supermarket conglomerate will implement the DPCA's Diabetes Control Program, which is designed to help patients gain better control of their condition, at select store pharmacies, including stores in the Cincinnati, Columbus and Dayton, Ohio, markets, and will offer the program in Atlanta, Dallas, Houston and Las Vegas later this year.

    From where I sit, I’ve noticed a certain “buzz” of optimism in our industry -- frustrations and anxieties from a tough couple of years seem to be giving way to increasingly sunny retail sales forecasts. Is this sudden sense of optimism justified by cold, hard facts? Or, is this increasing sense of optimism somewhat irrational?

  • O’Connor Capital and Real Vest close on two shopping center deals

    Boston -- O'Connor/Real Vest Retail Holding Co., LLC, a partnership formed by O'Connor Capital Partners and Wafra Investment Advisory Group, have teamed with The Wilder Cos. to complete transactions that include the purchase of Milford Marketplace in Milford, Conn., and the acquisition of the ownership interest in Phase I of Settlers Ridge in Pittsburgh.

    The centers were developed and managed by Chattanooga, Tenn.-based CBL Properties.
     

  • HairParty 24 to open second Manhattan location

    New York City -- Winick Realty Group LLC announced that HairParty 24, a 24-hour hair salon and spa with locations in New York and Seoul, has leased its second Manhattan location at the former Marc D’Orsay Salon at 450 Park Avenue South, between 30th and 31st Streets.

    The space includes 1,300 sq. ft. on the ground floor and 2,000 sq. ft. in a selling basement that will be used for parties.

  • Cabela's names new board member

    SIDNEY, Neb. -- Cabela’s Inc. announced that Beth Pritchard has been appointed to its board of directors.

    “I am delighted that Beth has joined our Board,” said Tommy Millner, Cabela’s CEO. “Beth’s impressive retailing expertise, marketing knowledge and leadership experience will be invaluable as we continue to focus on our strategic initiatives and look to profitably expand our retail store count.”
