    Mobile has been dominating digital conversation for several years now which is why new research regarding smart phones from the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) was suprising.

  • Wearable technology now available on Amazon

    Amazon has launched a Wearable Technology store, which it describes as a one-stop shop where customers can discover the latest in wearable technology and research wearable devices including activity trackers, smart watches and wearable cameras.

    In addition to the large selection of items from brands including Samsung, Jawbone and GoPro, the store features products from emerging brands such as Basis and Misfit as well as devices coming soon from brands such as Narrative and Bionym.

  • Samsung Electronics appoints SVP, customer service

    Samsung Electronics America has appointed Rajiv Mehta as SVP of its customer service division.

    Since joining the company in 2011, Mehta has been responsible for all customer operations in the United States including its call center, field and depot operations and warranty administration. Mehta also oversees the company’s Quality Assurance Lab.

    Fort Worth, Texas – RadioShack opens its latest custom concept store, located in Boston, April 10. Situated in the Downtown Crossing neighborhood, the newly remodeled store features a custom contemporary nautical design, paying homage to the city's maritime heritage with sailing rope accents, weathered wood and a ship's bow centerpiece.

  • Retailers and CPG companies win top EPA awards

    Best Buy, Staples, Home Depot, 3M and Colgate-Palmolive were among the many retailer and CPG companies to be recognized by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy as recipients of the 2014 Energy Star Partner of the Year Award.

    A total of 127 companies were received the Energy Star Partner of the Year distinction and were selected from a total of 16,000 Energy Start partners overall in the areas of manufacturing, retailing, public schools, hospitals, real estate companies and home builders.

  • Best Buy swings to profit on cost cuts

    Minneapolis – Best Buy’s “Renew Blue” cost reduction program appears to be succeeding, as the retailer reported profit instead of loss during the fourth quarter and fiscal year 2013. The improvements came even as revenues in both periods declined compared to the same periods a year earlier.

    During the fourth quarter, Best Buy reported net earnings of $311 million, a substantial improvement from its $460 million net loss a year earlier and above Wall Street projections.

  • Best Buy profits from cost-reduction program

    Best Buy saw revenues slip in the fourth quarter and fiscal 2013, thanks in part to declining retail traffic fueled by a shorter holiday shopping season and severe winter weather. But all was not bad news for the retailer, which was able to profit from its Renew Blue cost reduction program.

    During the fourth quarter, Best Buy reported net earnings of $311 million, a notable improvement from its $460 million net loss a year earlier. For the fiscal year, Best Buy reported net earnings of $523 million, compared to a net loss of $233 million the prior fiscal year.
