Staples bolsters European leadership team

Staples has appointed Thomas Nowak, most recently SVP, merchandising for bol.com, one of Europe’s largest e-commerce sites, as SVP of merchandising, Staples Europe, effective Aug. 1.



Nowak will report to president of Staples Europe John Wilson, and will be a member of the European leadership team.



“As part of our strategic transformation, we are making significant investments to expand our assortment and offer our customers more products than ever before,” Wilson said. “Thomas will play an integral part in our strategy, as his background and e-commerce experience will be critical in helping take us to the next level.”



Nowak has also held positions at Samsung Electronics and Philips Consumer Electronics. He has 15 years of business-to-business and business-to-consumer experience. Some of his recent notable achievements were introducing six new product categories for bol.com, and expanding the next day delivery capability to over one million items.



In his new role, Nowak will focus on product category expansions and pricing strategy.
