  • What have malls done for people lately? Lots.

    Everyone remembers the malls of the Eighties, where teenagers congregated and where the latest names in fashion could be found in one amazingly convenient location. This phenomenon was once relevant and innovative, but innovation is fleeting by nature. How have malls changed the ways they connect with customers make the mall experience still worth their while?   
  • Department store retailer strengthens ties with J.Crew brand

    Nordstrom is doubling down on its partnership with J.Crew Group’s Madewell brand.   The department store chain plans to expand the brand to an additional 20 stores this fall.  It’s the third distribution expansion since the initial launch of the partnership in March 2015, and will result in the retailer carrying Madewell goods in a total of 76 locations in the U.S. and Canada, as well as on Nordstrom.com.     
  • Off-pricer continues to expand

    The Dallas area is getting its sixth Nordstrom Rack store.   Nordstrom said it will open a Nordstrom Rack at The Centre at Preston Ridge in Frisco, Texas. The approximately 33,000-sq.-ft. store is scheduled to open in fall 2017. The property is owned by Brixmor Property Group.  
  • Nordstrom to integrate Trunk Club ops, cut jobs

    Nordstrom Inc. plans to more closely align operations of its omnichannel Trunk Club business with the rest of the enterprise.   The luxury retailer plans to close the dedicated Trunk Club fulfillment center located on Goose Island in Chicago. With the closure, Trunk Club will integrate its operations into the Nordstrom network of fulfillment and distribution centers located across the U.S. The Goose Island facility will transition to its close by August 2017.  
  • Department store retailer exiting downtown San Diego

    Nordstrom  plans to shutter its location at Horton Plaza, in downtown San Diego.  The store, which opened in 1985, will remain open through August 26, 2016.   "These are always tough decisions to make, but in taking a look at the store's performance and our business needs into the future, we believe this is the best direction to take," said Jamie Nordstrom, president of stores for Nordstrom. "We look forward to serving our loyal Horton Plaza customers at our other San Diego stores.”  
  • Nordstrom makes big e-commerce decision

    Nordstrom Inc. has re-evaluated its near-term needs for e-commerce infrastructure.   The luxury retailer has decided to postpone the planned opening of a West Coast fulfillment center dedicated to fulfilling digital orders until 2020 or later.  
  • Stores Make a Comeback: Becoming a Hub for an Array of Customer Services

    The store is making a comeback. Even online pure plays are laying down bricks and mortar, setting up “shop-in-shop” stores and large flagships to keep pace in the multichannel world.
     

  • Nordstrom expands loyalty to be omnichannel

    Nordstrom Inc. is known for providing the best customer experience, and is now applying that ethos to its customer loyalty program.

    The department store retailer is expanding its Nordstrom Rewards loyalty program to allow members to earn benefits regardless of how they choose to pay for purchases across its store, outlet store or digital channels.
