Sports Authority enters the holiday hiring game

10/19/2015

Sports Authority is joining other top retailers with plans to fortify their employee ranks for the holidays.

The sporting goods retailer announced it will hire 3,500 temporary employees across the country to meet consumer demand during the 2015 holiday season. All Sports Authority locations will begin hiring in mid-October and continue through December. Sports Authority plans to convert hundreds of seasonal workers into permanent Team Members after the holidays.

“We are so excited to provide jobs for applicants seeking temporary, as well as part-time employment during the holidays,” said Robert Gordon, Senior Vice President at Sports Authority. “At Sports Authority, we want to ensure every single customer has the best shopping experience around and this will be made possible with the extra hands joining us for the holidays. Our team is our greatest asset and I look forward to the future applicants joining us.”

Seasonal employees are eligible to receive the same benefits as current Team Members, and this year will have access to Sport Authority’s generous employee discount program. With competitive hourly wages, a team-based work environment, great training and advancement opportunities, Sports Authority offers an exciting work environment for competitive, talented individuals who are passionate about sports. Macy's said it plans to hire roughly 85,000 seasonal workers for the coming holiday season, slightly less than levels a year earlier. Walmart plans to hire 60,000 seasonal workers for the coming holiday season, matching last year's hiring level. Nordstrom will hire about 12,000 seasonal associates.

Colorado-based Sports Authority is one of the largest full-line sporting goods retailers, with 467 locations across 41 states and Puerto Rico.
