    MENOMONEE FALLS, Wis. -- Kohl’s Department Stores announced that the company will be recognized as a 2011 Energy Star Partner of the Year for the second consecutive year at the Energy Star Awards ceremony held in Washington, D.C. The Partner of the Year Award is presented by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and U.S. Department of Energy.

  • Kohl’s named 2011 Energy Star Partner of the Year

    Menomonee Falls, Wis. -- Kohl’s Department Stores announced Tuesday that it will be recognized as a 2011 Energy Star Partner of the Year by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy.

    The award, Kohl’s second consecutive, will be presented Tuesday evening at the Energy Star Awards ceremony in Washington, D.C.

  • Kohl’s completes credit-card portfolio transfer to Capital One

    Menomonee Falls, Wis. -- Kohl’s Department Stores said Tuesday it has completed the transfer of its private-label credit-card portfolio to Capital One Financial Corp., effective April 1.

    Capital One has acquired the more than 20 million existing Kohl’s Charge accounts and through the seven-year agreement will offer private-label credit cards to new and existing Kohl’s customers. According to the department store retailer, the credit-card business accounted for more than 50% of Kohl’s sales in 2010.

    MENOMONEE FALLS, Wis. -- Kohl’s Department Stores announced the completion of its private-label credit card portfolio transfer to Capital One Financial Corporation, effective as of April 1, 2011. Capital One has acquired the more than 20 million existing Kohl’s Charge accounts and through the seven-year agreement will offer private-label credit cards to new and existing Kohl’s customers.

    Kohl’s will open its third distribution center devoted to e-commerce by July as it looks to build on the 50% growth rate experienced last year and surpass annual online sales of $1 billion in 2011.

  • Kohl's to open Maryland DC

    Menomonee Falls, Wis. -- Kohl's Corp. said Tuesday that plans to open a distribution center in July in Maryland that will create about 1,200 jobs over the next three years.

    According to the retailer, the Edgewood, Md., DC will fulfill online orders. Kohl’s anticipates hiring more than 200 full- and part-time employees when the center opens in July.

    With the newest DC, Kohl's will have a total of 12 distribution centers across the United States.

  • Kohl’s will open 40 new stores in 2011 and remodel 100 existing units

    Menomonee Falls, Wis. -- Kohl’s Department Stores on Wednesday is celebrating  the grand opening of nine new stores across seven states: Illinois, New York, South Dakota, Texas, Virginia, Washington and Wisconsin.  The chain plans to open a total of approximately 40 stores in 2011.

    In addition,  Kohl’s continues to invest in its existing store base, remodeling approximately 100 stores in 2011, an 18% increase from 2010.
