  • Facebook launching payments feature for Messenger app

    New York -- Facebook Inc. is adding a new feature to its popular Messenger instant messaging service that will give users the ability to send money to friends. The Messenger app, which separated from Facebook’s main application in 2014, is one of the largest platforms in the world, with a reported 700 million users.

    The new payments tool will be rolled out in the coming months in the United States for desktop computers and Google’s and Apple’s mobile platform. Facebook reportedly built the tool in house. 


  • Survey: Consumers love iPhone, Apple and retail

    Mountain View, Calif. – Move over mom, baseball and apple pie. The new three things everyone loves are iPhone, Apple and retail.

    According to a new survey of global English-speaking consumers in 84 countries, the “NetBase Brand Passion Report,” iPhone is the most-loved brand in the world. Apple comes in at number three. And retail and Apple dominate the rest of the top 10 brands, which are Etsy (4th), iPad (5th), MacBook Air (6th), Starbucks (7th), Chipotle (9th) and McDonald’s (10th).

  • Study: Worldwide mobile POS shipments boom

    Franklin, Tenn. - Worldwide mobile POS shipments grew by 77.4% in 2014 and this growth rate is maintaining its pace in 2015. According to new research from IHL Group, specialty stores still dominate the use of mobile POS worldwide, receiving 58% of total shipments in 2014.

  • Survey: Consumers not that interested in mobile payment

    New York - U.S. consumers are no more interested in paying for purchases using mobile phones than they were six months ago, when Apple unveiled Apple Pay. According to a new poll of 1,000 U.S. adults from CreditCards.com, 17% of respondents said they would pay for items using a cellphone "always" or "most of the time" if they could.

  • Zappos adopts Apple Touch ID

    Las Vegas – Zappos is making Apple Touch ID available to its mobile customers. The latest update of the Zappos iOS app adds the option to log in with Touch ID.

    Touch ID eliminates the need for password login.

    With a single touch, customers using iPhones and iPads are logged in and ready to check out. Apple first introduced Touch ID in September 2013.

    Grapevine, Texas – GameStop Corp. is launching a nationwide rollout of Apple Pay to its more than 4,200 U.S. video game stores this month. In GameStop stores, Apple Pay will work with the iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus and the upcoming Apple Watch.

    San Francisco -- Apple on Monday announced that the Apple Watch will be available starting April 24, to customers in the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, and Japan. For shoppers who can’t wait that long, the device will be available for preview, try-on and preorder starting April 10.
