  • Australia’s General Pants installs interactive kiosks with Epicor Retail

    Sydney, Australia – Australian apparel retailer General Pants is rolling out interactive kiosks fusing music, fashion and social media to create a shopping experience to guide, inform and entertain consumers via Apple iPad device displays. The launch is the result of more than six months of development to create an omni-channel platform that merges the online and offline shopping experience.

  • Rent-A-Center rebrands kiosks

    Plano, Texas – Rent-A-Center plans to rebrand the kiosks it operates within third-party retail locations across the country.

    Operating under the RAC Acceptance brand since being launched in 2006, the kiosks will transition to the AcceptanceNow brand. Existing kiosks, of which there are over 1,300, will convert in January 2014. Kiosks slated to open this month will immediately adopt the AcceptanceNow name.

  • Stone-care company secures supermarket distribution

    Granite Gold’s nationwide distribution expanded with the addition of Shaw’s Supermarkets in the Northeast and Stater Bros. Markets in Southern California.

    Shaw’s Supermarkets, which has more than 120 stores throughout Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont, now carries Granite Gold Daily Cleaner and Granite Gold Polish.

  • Advance Auto Parts to acquire rival General Parts for $2.04 billion

    Roanoke, Va. -- Advance Auto Parts will acquire General Parts International, a privately held parts maker. The all-cash deal has an enterprise value of $2.04 billion.

    Based in Raleigh, N.C., General Parts, which owns the Carquest brand, has 1,246 company operated stores in North America. It also operates 1,418 independently owned Carquest locations primarily in the United States and Canada.

  • Advance Auto Parts to expands footprint with GPII acquisition

    Advance Auto Parts plans to acquire General Parts International in an all-cash transaction worth $2.04 billion. The transaction has been approved by the boards of directors of both companies.

    General Parts International is a leading privately held distributor and supplier of original equipment and aftermarket replacement products for commercial markets operating under the Carquest and Worldpac brands.

  • Fresh Market names Advance Auto Parts exec as real estate VP

    Greensboro, N.C. – The Fresh Market has named Randall A. Young as its senior VP real estate and development effective Sept. 30. Young, 56, will oversee the company's real estate and development functions including market strategy development, site selection, store design, construction, store relocations and renovations.

    Young most recently served as VP, real estate at Advance Auto Parts. He has also held a variety of real estate and construction roles at McDonald's Corporation, among other companies.

  • Fresh Market bolsters real estate leadership

    GREENSBORO, N.C. — The Fresh Market has appointed Randall A. Young as the company’s SVP of real estate and development, effective Sept. 30. 

    Young will oversee the company's real estate and development functions, including market strategy development, site selection, store design, construction, store relocations and renovations.
