    SAN FRANCISCO — Executives from Walmart, Facebook and Groupon are among the keynote speakers slated for the Mobile Commerce World three-day conference and expo in June. 

    Mobile Commerce World touts itself as the only event of its kind designed to help retail and enterprise executives create the most effective mobile commerce strategies. It will be held June 24-26, at the Palace Hotel in San Francisco.

  • Advance Auto drives organizational change

    ROANOKE, Va. — Advance Auto has named George Sherman president of the company as part of its effort to simplify company leadership.

    In his role as president, Sherman will be responsible for growing commercial and driving excellence throughout the company’s operations. Sherman will lead the company’s commercial sales, field operations, store operations support, merchandising, marketing, supply chain and e-commerce teams.

  • Kennedy assumes new finance role at Target

    Scott Kennedy was named president of Target financial and retail service to replace long time finance executive Terry Scully.

    Scully spent nearly 35 years with Target and is moving into a strategic advisory role to ensure the smooth transition of the recently sold credit card portfolio to TD Bank Group. Scully, 60, will officially retire in March 2014. Filling his shoes as head of financial and retail services is Scott Kennedy, 44. He joined Target in 2005 and currently serves as VP of pay and benefits.

    ROANOKE, Va. — Advance Auto Parts  has promoted Rusty Tweedy to area SVP, responsible for store operations in the Mid-Atlantic regions. Tweedy will report to Kurt Schumacher, SVP national field operations. Effective with this promotion, the company is adding a fourth operational area which will enable the company’s field and commercial sales leaders to be more aligned and focused on driving profitable growth.

  • New promotions at Advance Auto Parts

    ROANOKE, Va. — Advance Auto Parts has announced the promotions of Kurt Schumacher to SVP, national field operations and Joe Gonzalez to area SVP.

    Schumacher will lead the company's  nearly 3,500 Advance Auto Parts stores and asset protection. Mr. Schumacher will report to Darren Jackson, president and CEO. Gonzalez will lead store operations in Florida, the Southeast, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands. He will report to Schumacher.
