  • Under Armour taps former Aldo CEO for key role amid management changes

    Under Armour founder and CEO Kevin Plank is stepping back from his role as president.   The sporting goods company announced that retail veteran Patrik Frisk will become president and COO, effective July 10. He will have responsibility for the company's go-to-market strategy and the successful execution of its long-term growth plan and report directly to Kevin Plank, who has also held the title of president since 2010.  
  • Supermarket giant on hunt for CFO

    Supervalu Inc. is losing its chief finance officer.   The company announced that Bruce Besanko plans to resign as executive VP, COO and CFO effective July 5, 2017 to pursue an outside opportunity.  
  • Retail vet joins WD Partners

    WD Partners has tapped a 30-years plus retail consulting and design veteran as executive VP.   Dan Stanek will serve as the business vertical leader of health & wellness for WD and work to further expand the sector.   Stanek most recently worked as chief strategy office for Ologie, and as president of FootClick, an indoor location software platform. His previous positions include executive VP of Big Red Rooster, executive VP of Kantar Retail, and executive VP of Retail Forward.  
  • Supermarket retailer is top rated retail CEO

    The chief executive of a regional supermarket chain ranks among the nation's highest-rated CEOs.   Charles C. Butt, CEO of H-E-B, based in Austin, Texas, was the only retail chief executive to crack the top 20 of Glassdoor's annual Employee Choice Awards, which honor the 100 highest rated CEOs of large companies across the United States. Butt ranked #16. (The number one position was held by Benno Dorer, CEO of Clorox.)   
  • Dollar General taps Vitamin Shoppe exec for key role

    Dollar General has added a Vitamin Shoppe veteran to its ranks as executive VP and chief merchandising officer.   Jason Reiser, most recently executive VP and COO of Vitamin Shoppe, will join the discounter, effective July 12. He replaces the recently retired Jim Thorpe.   Reiser brings with him to Dollar General more than 30 years’ experience in retail management, private brand sourcing and regulatory affairs. He also is a trained pharmacist.  
  • Subway digital chief heading to discount giant

    Dollar General has tapped a fast-casual restaurant executive to lead its technology and fledgling online operations.    Dollar General Corp. announced that Carman Wenkoff will join the company as executive VP and CIO, effective July 10. He replaces current CIO Ryan Boone, who recently announced his retirement.

    As Amazon continues to ready its cashierless convenience store concept for the public, the company has lost one of the project’s technology leaders.  
  • CEO of specialty grocer resigns

    The Fresh Market's chief executive has resigned after less than two years on the job.    The Fresh Market announced that Rick Anicetti has resigned as CEO and board member. No reason was given for his departure. Anicetti took the reins of the specialty grocer in September 2015, bringing more than 30 years of experience across a variety of retail functions at Hannaford Brothers Company and Food Lion, where he served as president and CEO.
