C-Suite Moves: October update
Here are the major C-suite changes that occurred in October, in the order they were announced. (All changes have already taken effect unless otherwise noted.)
- Kruti Patel Goyal, Etsy’s current president and chief growth officer, will become CEO and will join Etsy's board of directors effective Jan. 1. Longtime CEO Josh Silverman has decided to step down from his role, effective Dec. 31.
- J.Crew Group named Gena Smith as its new chief human resources officer. She joins J.Crew from LVMH North America, where she spent more than 14 years total, and most recently served as chief human resources officer for more than three and a half years
- Brand House Collective (formerly known as Kirkland’s) tapped Lisa Foley as its new chief marketing officer. Most recently, she served as VP of marketing at online women’s apparel retailer Pink Lily for nearly a year and a half. Previously, Foley was VP and head of marketing and e-commerce at Kirkland's.
- The Vitamin Shoppe named Kate Vukelich as executive VP and chief people officer. She most recently served as chief revenue and chief people officer at apparel retailer Everlane until 2024.

- Ulta Beauty tapped Christopher DelOrefice as CFO, effective Dec. 5. He joins Ulta from Becton Dickinson & Company, where he has served as executive VP and CFO since September 2021. Prior to that, he spent more than 20 years with Johnson & Johnson.
- The Knot Worldwide appointed John James to the newly-created role of CTO. He more than 20 years of technology leadership, most recently leading the technology team at financial services company Ouro.
- Footwear brand Toms named Jessica Alsing as CEO. The first woman to lead the brand, she most recently served as chief digital officer at Grendene Global Brands (parent company of Melissa Shoes, Ipanema and Rider). Prior to that, she spent nearly a decade at Crocs.
- Designer Brands Inc., whose portfolio includes DSW Designer Shoe Warehouse, said that Jared Poff has decided to resign as executive VP, CFO and chief administrative officer, effective Oct. 31. It named Mark Haley, senior VP, controller and principal accounting officer, as interim principal financial officer while it searches for a permanent CFO.
- PVH Corp., parent company of Tommy Hilfiger and Calvin Klein, named Patricia Gabriel as chief supply chain officer and global head of operations, effective in the fourth quarter. She joins the company from Capri Holdings, where she has served as chief supply chain officer for Michael Kors, Jimmy Choo and Versace since August 2022.
- 1-800-Flowers.com Inc. appointed Melanie Babcock to the new role of chief marketing and growth officer. Babcock has served in several leadership roles at The Home Depot for over a decade. Most recently, she served as VP of Orange Apron Media.
- In two appointments, Five Below named Michelle Israel as chief merchandising office and Daniel Sullivan as CFO. Israel’s previous experience includes nearly 35 years at Macy’s and Bloomingdale’s, most recently as senior VP and general merchandise manager, beauty and center core, at Macy’s.
- Most recently, Sullivan served as executive VP and COO of Edgewell Personal Care after joining the company as CFO in 2019. Sullivan previously served as CFO of Party City and CFO of Ahold Delhaize USA.
