  • J.C. Penney sets mid-March launch of Joe Fresh shops

    Plano, Texas -- J.C. Penney Co. announced that Canada’s Joe Fresh brand will launch in J.C. Penney stores beginning March 15, with a collection of modern basics for women. The collection will be displayed in 750-sq.-ft. to 2,500-sq.-ft. dedicated shops in nearly 700 JCP stores.
     

  • Report: Google planning to open retail stores

    New York -- Google is planning to open freestanding retail stores in the United States, with the first flagship locations open in time for the 2013 holiday shopping season, according to a report by online site 9to5Google.

    “Google feels right now that many potential customers need to get hands-on experience with its products before they are willing to purchase," the website reported.

  • NRF: Retail sales up slightly in January

    WASHINGTON -- Retail sales ticked up in January as consumers adjusted their spending in response to the increase in payroll taxes and rise in gasoline and energy prices. According to the National Retail Federation, January retail sales (excluding automobiles, gas stations and restaurants) increased 0.3% seasonally adjusted from December and increased 5.4% unadjusted year-over-year.
