  • TJX HomeGoods to open on Michigan Avenue

    Chicago -- Oakbrook Terrace, Ill.-based Mid-America Real Estate Group said Thursday that TJX's HomeGoods has signed a lease for 25,503 sq. ft. of space at 600 N. Michigan Avenue.

    The site is the largest single-footprint space available in the district.

  • Dillard's plans to form REIT

    Little Rock, Ark. -- In a regulatory filing on Wednesday Dillard's said it plans to form a real estate investment trust, with the objective of improving liquidity.

    According to the department store retailer, various company entities will transfer interests in properties to the REIT, which will then lease the properties back to them.

    "Dillard's believes the formation of a REIT may enhance its ability to access debt or preferred stock and thereby enhance its liquidity," the filing said.

  • Edens & Avant announces promotions

    Columbia, S.C. -- Edens & Avant said Tuesday it has promoted Jami Passer to managing director. Prior to joining Edens & Avant in 2006, Passer was a partner and consultant with P3 Partners, a South Florida real estate advisory firm as well as being a managing director in the Real Estate Capital Markets Group of Andersen Corporate Finance LLC.

  • Menchie's Frozen Yogurt opens at Eisenhower Square

    Savannah, Ga. -- Centro Properties Group said that Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt has opened a 1,215-sq.-ft. store at Eisenhower Square.

    The shopping center, located in Savannah, Ga., is owned by New York City-based Centro Properties Group.

  • Dollar Tree doubles size in Temple Terrace for Deal$ concept

    Tampa, Fla. -- RMC Property Group said that Dollar Tree has signed a lease to expand and relocate its store within the Temple Terrace Shopping Center, located in Tampa, Fla.

    Dollar Tree will relocate to the vacant former Save-A-Lot unit, increasing the size of its store from 7,992 sq. ft. to 14,425 sq. ft.

    The new store will open under the chain’s Deal$ concept, which sells some items for more than $1, offering merchandise that Dollar Tree does not sell under the $1 restricted price of its primary stores.

  • Pet Supermarket to open at Bloomingdale Square

    Brandon, Fla. -- Jacksonville, Fla.-based Regency Centers said it has leased retail space in Brandon, Fla., at Bloomingdale Square to Pet Supermarket.     

    Pet Supermarket has leased 9,000 sq. ft., bringing the center to 96% leased. The pet supply retailer is slated to open in first quarter 2011.

    The 267,736-sq.-ft. shopping center is anchored by a 92,681-sq.-ft. Wal-Mart, Bealls and Publix, plus other retailers such as Dollar Tree, Hallmark, RadioShack and Bank of America.

  • The Chill Thrill to open at Caligo Crossing

    Coconut Creek, Fla. -- Jacksonville, Fla.-based Regency Centers said it has leased retail space in Coconut Creek, Fla., at Caligo Crossing to The Chill Thrill.

    A self-serve frozen yogurt and ice cream store, The Chill Thrill has leased 1,300 sq. ft. and is slated to open in April.

    The 108,927-sq.-ft. shopping center is anchored by Kohl’s.

  • Mulberry to debut in SoHo

    New York City -- Robert K. Futterman & Associates said it has arranged a long-term, 10,700-sq.-ft. lease with Mulberry at 134 Spring St., between Greene and Wooster Streets in SoHo.

    The store will serve as the British lifestyle brand’s flagship location in New York City and will be its third store in Manhattan. Scheduled to open in the summer, Mulberry will occupy 5,700 sq. ft. of ground-floor retail and 5,000 on the lower level and will sell ready-to-wear in addition to accessories.
