  • Beauty retailer gets ‘virtual makeover’

    A new kind of makeup consultant is assisting shoppers at Watsons Shanghai.   The health and beauty retailer’s flagship store in Shanghai now features a makeover kiosk. Equipped with the Consultation Mode augmented reality app from YouCam Makeup, the device enables shoppers to try on over 30 different products from their favorite makeup brands, including MaxFactor, Maybelline, and KATE Cosmetics.  
  • Fashion retailer launches designer ‘Lab’

    Nordstrom is taking new designers under its wing, and giving them some “space” for exposure.   On Tuesday, Feb 21, the department store chain launched “The Lab,” an incubator project that will showcase and support new designers in select stores and online.

  • Nike, Miami

    Nike has brought its experiential retail format to Miami Beach. The company has opened a two-story, digitally connected, 31,000-sq.-ft. store on Lincoln Road, in the heart of Miami Beach.   Similar to Nike’s new store in Manhattan’s SoHo, the Miami location is designed to deliver the best of Nike products and personalized, immersive experiences services through a series of unique spaces. These include zones dedicated to running, soccer and basketball where consumers can try out the brand’s latest products.
  • Target to give a top-performing store a total makeover

    Target plans to renovate its downtown Minneapolis flagship, adding an array of new features.   The discounter will invest $10 million in a full-store remodel for the location, which opened in 2001, reported The Journal.     Less ambitious updates are planned for other Target stores in the Twin Cities area.    
  • Warby Parker in store expansion

    Warby Parker is making a big commitment to brick-and-mortar.    The hip eyewear retailer plans to open at least 25 stores this year, The Wall Street Journal reported.   The new locations, planned for Miami, Philadelphia, Los Angeles and other cities, are expected to bring Warby Parker’s total store count to about 70 by year end.    The stores will range in size and include freestanding as well as mall locations, the report said. 
  • Abercrombie set to unveil new, more ‘inclusive’ store prototype

    For the first time in more than 15 years, Abercrombie & Fitch is launching a new store format for its namesake banner.
