    EL SEGUNDO, Calif. — Big 5 Sporting Goods is seeing the positive effects of its merchandising and marketing strategies, with its first positive quarterly comps increase since the third quarter of 2010. The company reported a same-store sales gain of 1% for its 2012 second quarter ended July 1.

  • Integration continues at Toys'R'Us

    WAYNE, N.J. — Toys"R"Us continues on its path to bring its Toys"R"Us and Babies"R"Us stores under one roof as part of its integrated store strategy. The company announced that by the end of the year it will have opened eight new stores and transformed 13 existing locations to the side-by-side model in 2012. In adding eight new stores and renovating 13 existing locations, the company will create more than 400 new jobs across the country.

  • Costco stays tuned to PRN channel

    Costco’s enhanced its ability to sell 3D televisions with the renewal and upgrade of a relationship with Premium Retail Networks (PRN).

    Under the new agreement, PRN’s upgraded in-store media HDTV Network will provide Costco warehouses with a dedicated 3D content channel to support Costco’s 3D consumer electronics education initiatives. PRN is further integrating its HDTV Network platform with Costco’s technology infrastructure to support a wider range of media formats.
