    Waldorf, Germany -- Black Friday social mentions more than doubled those of Cyber Monday this year. But a new infographic from SAP shows that consumers felt the most excited and happy about Cyber Monday.

  • Kohl’s unwraps new strategy this holiday season

    With the holiday shopping season underway and many retailers bracing for stiff competition, Kohl’s plans on keeping its doors open for more than 100 hours, from 6 a.m. Friday, Dec. 20 through 6 p.m. Christmas Eve, Tuesday, Dec. 24.

    Although the strategy is familiar to retailers such as Toys “R” Us, it is a first for Kohl’s. The move comes following a comparable-store sales increase of 0.9% for the second-quarter which fell short of Wall Street estimates.

  • Facebook receives lowest customer experience rankings

    Ann Arbor, Mich. – Facebook is the lowest scoring brand in the overall ForeSee Customer Experience Index, with a score of 69. The index, a study that examines how today's customer experiences with the top 100 brands across seven industries as reported by Interbrand are predictive of companies' future business success, shows that while Amazon dominates retail industry at the brand level (87), Nordstrom (86), Coach (85), Costco (84) and Tiffany (84) are statistically within reach of the leader.

  • Jos. A. Bank boosts sales in Q3

    Jos. A. Bank slightly increased its net income to $13.6 million in the third quarter of fiscal 2013 from $13.3 million in the same period a year earlier. The retailer also saw its net sales grow about 6% to $247.5 million, from $232.8 million.

    Same-store sales declined 0.1%, although direct marketing sales increased 23.5% and combined same-store and online sales increased 2.4%. Jos. A. Bank incurred $1.2 million of legal and professional expenses in connection with the company's bid to acquire The Men's Wearhouse.

  • Kohl’s to keep stores open 24 hours from Dec. 20-24

    Menomonee Falls, Wis. – Kohl’s will keep its doors open for more than 100 hours straight, beginning at 6 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 20 through 6 p.m. on Christmas Eve, Tuesday, Dec. 24. Kohl’s is also offering free gift boxes and a “no questions asked” returns policy that offers full refunds and exchanges for purchases made with a receipt or on a Kohl’s charge card.

  • Rakuten.com Shopping rocked Black Friday

    Black Friday came early for Rakuten.com Shopping. The online marketplace saw a huge jump in visits to the site, consumer sales and conversion on and leading up to the biggest shopping day of the year.

    Rakuten.com Shopping reported a rise in consumer sales and traffic beginning the Monday before the big sale days, with a spike on Thanksgiving Day and a crescendo at 10 a.m. PST on Black Friday.

  • Report: McDonald’s launches app in New England, Albany areas

    Oak Brook, Ill. – McDonald’s is reportedly making its free “McD” mobile app available to customers in the New England/Albany, N.Y. market. According to the Boston Globe, New England/Albany is the third market where McDonald’s has released the McD app, which is available for both iPhones and Android smartphones.
