    CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Belk is partnering with Project Runway’s 12th season to grow its brand. 

    The family-owned and operated department store will be sponsoring this season's accessory wall, as well as a “Modern. Southern. Style.” design challenge that will feature a Belk executive as guest judge. This year's winning designer will have the opportunity to design and sell an exclusive line at Belk.

  • Walmart launches social media-inspired ‘Get on the Shelf’ program

    New York -- Walmart has launched the latest installment of its social media-inspired merchandising initiative known as, “Get on the Shelf.”

    The program, developed by the company’s digital think tank @WalmartLabs, affords entrepreneurs the ability to have their product featured on Walmart.com and possibly in select Walmart stores. The company issued an open call to anyone with an interesting product to enter between now and July 31 by submitting a video to https://getontheshelf.walmart.com.

  • PetSmart to offer pets a super deal

    NEW YORK — DC Comics' costumed superheroes are heading to PetSmart stores in July. The specialty pet retailer will debut an exclusive line of DC Comics-themed pet apparel and toys for dogs by Fetch for Pets.

    The licensing partnership between Fetch for Pets and Warner Bros. Consumer Products on behalf of DC Entertainment features DC Comics characters such as Superman and Dynamic Duo Batman and Robin. Along with T-shirts, dresses and bandanas the line also includes ball bodies, teethers, bottle crunchers and plush figures.

  • Converse’s new store in San Francisco is big on customization

    San Francisco - Converse has opened its first Northern California location — and its largest store to date — in San Francisco’s Union Square shopping district. With 8,200 sq.ft. of selling space, the store offers a comprehensive assortment of Converse footwear, apparel and accessories, along with an interactive personalization process for designing one-of-a-kind Converse sneakers and clothing.

  • New North Carolina Sam’s Club celebrates grand opening

    Easley, N.C. -- The new 138,000-sq.-ft. Sam’s Club in Easley Town Center Easley, N.C., celebrated its grand opening on June 27. Mayor Bagwell and Chamber of Commerce president Cindy Hopkins attended.

    As part of the continuing celebration, University of South Carolina running back George Rogers will sign autographs on June 29.
