  • Opus Group completes four Gander Mountain stores

    Minneapolis -- The Opus Group announced the completion of four projects for St. Paul, Minnesota-based retailer Gander Mountain. Opus built three new 52,000-sq.-ft. Gander Mountain stores in Augusta, Georgia; Newnan, Ga. and Algonquin, Ill.; and managed renovations of the retailer’s 96,275-sq.-ft. store in Forest Lake, Minn.  
  • Eddie Bauer opening holiday pop-up with Twitter-activated vending machine

    Seattle -- Eddie Bauer is opening a pop-up store in New York City on Thursday, Nov. 6. The pop-up will be open through Feb. 14, 2015 and transform into a permanent flagship store to reopen in spring 2015. The store is located in the Union Square area of Manhattan.

  • Saks Fifth Avenue partners with MasterCard on holiday window display and light show

    New York -- Saks Fifth Avenue’s flagship in Manhattan will unveil its holiday window display and light show on Monday, Nov. 24. Presented by MasterCard, the show will integrate LEDs, strobes, up-lights, video projections and music.   
  • Saks holidays more festive than ever

    Enchanted holidays are ahead for Saks Fifth Avenue and its shoppers.  On Monday, November 24, Saks’ flagship store in New York will debut An Enchanted Experience – a new show featuring the unveiling of the store's holiday windows and a dramatic light display incorporating the entire building.

    The Rockettes will perform on the opening night with a line of 36 dancers on the streets of Fifth Avenue.  The windows and light display presented exclusively by Master Card will continue throughout the holiday season.

  • Samsung brings the next little thing to retail

    Technology leader Samsung Electronics has introduced a new line of small interactive digital displays to replace printed posters and help brands and retailers  drive sales.

    The new 22 inch and 10 inch displays Samsung introduced to its Smart Signage product lineup are designed to drive increased interactivity thanks to Wi-Fi connectivity and touchscreen technology.

  • Advancing the Wounded Warrior cause

    A powerful alliance formed by News American Marketing, Acosta Sales & Marketing and dozens of leading brands and retailers have stepped up again this veterans day to remind Americans to Believe in Heroes.

    Believe in Heroes is an innovative cause marketing campaign created by Acosta Sales & Marketing in 2010 to generate awareness of the Wounded Warrior Project and raise funds for the critical services the group provides to veterans. News America, publisher of the SmartSource Magazine coupon insert, signed on to the Believe in Heroes program in 2011.

  • Kmart to stay open for 42 hours straight, starting at 6 a.m. on Thanksgiving

    Hoffman Estates, Ill. -- Sears Holiding Company joined the growing list of retailers with extended shopping hours on Thanksgiving and Black Friday.   Sears and Kmart stores will open on Thanksgiving Day, with Sears opening at its earliest time ever: 6 p.m, two hours earlier than last year. Kmart will open its doors for 42 hours straight, from 6 a.m. on Thanksgiving to midnight on Black Friday.
